Hotel Avenida is a 4-star boutique hotel right on the Praca da Republica in the center of Viseu. The hotel staff was warm welcoming and helpful (happily taking our bags in the morning before check in so we could explore the city). English and some other languages are spoken if needed. The room was delighful; spotlessly clean and enormous (although I must note that we did get a deluxe double). The bed was clean and comfortable (if a bit on the firm side). The bathroom had a fantastic shower and a new modern tub big enough for a swim (ok, maybe not, but still very big!). In spite of being right in the center of town, the room was quiet and the electric shades worked perfectly. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, especially the fruit and pastries. The hot food selection was a bit sp****, but the selection was hot and kept stocked. We highly recommend this hotel fo visitors to Viseu.
