I had a lovely experience. The hotel appeared to have been recently updated and had a relaxing and modern atmosphere. The staff at reception were so friendly and really went the extra mile in helping me with a few queries I had. The direct access to the beach was appreciated and it was nice to have a pool as well. My room felt very luxurious and was decorated nicely. There are shops nearby and the area is convenient. A great stay and I’m glad I chose it!

We stayed here one night and I should note it was the first Friday of the first weekend of Texas' spring break. If the hotel wasn't sold out, it was pretty close to it. - Staff (Kristal) checking in was great. I did see that there were lots of kids (was told a football team) around and asked if we could be located a bit aways from those chunk of rooms. Kristal understood and put us on the 3rd floor (they were on the 2nd). - The sink in the bathroom wouldn't drain on checkin. The manager (also great) came up and fixed it right away. Given how busy the hotel was I appreciated he did this quite quickly. It was minor issue that he resolved right away (thank you!). - Room was of average cleanliness. - I like that Springhill doesn't use the prepackaged shampoo, etc..but the dispenser in the shower was out. - One reason we picked this hotel was for the EV destination charger. This was not working and based on reviews has not worked since March of 2020. Marriott please remove this as an amenity of this hotel. I will call next time I book anywhere to confirm. - I'm not sure what the staff could have done, but even though we were on the second floor, the kids staying at hotel were running around, opening/closing doors, etc..(especially outside our door) till 1:30/2am. If I had to do it over again I would have called down (which I didn't). It wasn't a single room but many and in the hallway. It did bring down my review as we slept horribly for one night but note this is most likely a one off issue and not necessarily the fault of the hotel.

The breakfast was fantastic. The cooks kept bringing items out as soon as they were empty. Cereal bar, oatmeal bar, fruit bar, pastries, toasts, made-to-order omelets and scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes and pancakes. The customer service was great, however you have to ask for your room to be cleaned. The room was lacking some good old scrubbing, but that’s why I travel with my Clorox wipes. Overall, great experience!

We had the misfortune of staying on the same floor of the incredibly inconsiderate Fatma and Farah H, the previous two complaints. In all of my years of staying in hotels, never have I stayed next to a guest who was as intolerably loud and disruptive. First of all, they left their dog alone in the room from about 7pm until sometime in the middle of the night, which the hotel tells you specifically not to do. The poor dog barked incessantly without stopping, you could hear it throughout the entire floor of the hotel. Then when they eventually returned home in the middle of the night, they turned on the tv, cranked the volume and left it on until morning. They left 3 bags of garbage outside their door and took phone calls on speaker phone in the hallway for us all to enjoy. When we finally couldn’t handle it anymore and decided to complain to front desk, there were guests from 5 other rooms in line to make the same complaint. If ever a guest warranted an eviction, it was these people. The hotel had been dealing with complaints about them for days and were eventually left with no option. I credit the hotel for standing up for the other guests so we could all enjoy a reasonable stay.

This hotel is OK, that's the best way to describe it. The bed was comfortable and clean and the common area is very nice, but everything else seemed to be struggling. First, this is clearly not a new hotel, but a renovated one. And I don't know if I've ever seen a renovation so poorly done. Paint was uneven, cracks left unfixed, the tile in the shower looked like a topographic map, the caulking was globbed on, the vanity is pulling away from the wall. It should have been a nice, streamlined design, but it gave the impression the room was old and crumbling. The room was generally clean, but housekeeping is literally cutting corners. There was dust on the windowsills and the corners of the shower were mildewing, likely due to the poor caulk installation, but still. Those things are relatively minor. The real problem that this hotel seems to be having is the HVAC. The hallway is muggy and smells like the last carpet shampooing never properly aired out. The AC in the room had trouble keeping up and managing humidity. The room smelled slightly vaguely musty but I couldn't put my finger on it until I realized right before checkout that the carpet in front of the AC was wet; it leaks.

For a Best Western, this would be 3 stars, but for a BW Plus, it's only a 2. I'm not sure what the specific qualifications are between a standard Best Western and their ”Plus” brand, but this particular hotel must have just squeaked by. The front staff was very nice, but both the lobby and rooms had a damp mildew smell. The furniture was sparse and uncomfortable, and the walls were very thin (even low conversational levels were audible from the next room). Pros: - Pet friendly - Nice staff - Had a bigger refrigerator - Average BW breakfast Cons: - Damp mildew smell - Minimal furniture - Thin walls. Could hear normal conversations and early morning alarms through the walls - Would not qualify this as a BW Plus

GGuest UserThis is a very nice motel, not far from anything you want to do. The rooms are clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the weekend is great with Texas shaped waffles. Breakfasts during the week is good. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had anything we requested!
I arrived at this hotel and immediately encountered refurbishing work in progress. The front desk area was chaotic, with workers on the floor directly in front of thr Front Desk and it was unclear where guests should go. A woman behind the counter ignored me, leaving me confused until one of the workers directed me to the side of the counter. Surprisingly, the same woman who had been ignoring me then greeted me. I thought it was odd that she hadn't beckoned me over. The room itself was disappointing. As soon as I opened the door, I was hit by a strong moldy smell. The ceiling had large brown blotches, some of which were partially painted over. The AC unit worked but had a large rust patch on it. There was a hole in the ceiling and white unidentified splash marks on the bed frame. The bedside table was broken, and the pillows, though in clean cases, lacked protectors and were stained yellow. Due to the ongoing refurbishments I assumed the room was mistakenly given to me thinking it was completed, so i took some pictures and went back to the reception. The receptionist, ”Jenny or Janine,” was not interested in seeing the photos and informed me she would only move me once. Her attitude suggested that providing an acceptable room was somehow my responsibility. And she would not be inconvenienced by it. This was a work trip, so I decided to check out her ”take it or leave it” offer and deal with it later. The next room was slightly better, though the pillows still lacked protectors. A quick trip to Walmart solved that issue. The receptionist could definetly benefit from additional training. I would not recommend staying here, at least not during their renovation period.
GGuest User IT is an older property, but it is kept clean. Given the times, you have to request room service if you want your room clean every day, but that was okay because we liked the privacy. It was no problem to get fresh towels Very close to beach entrance across the street. Parking was a little tight, but we could find a space. Breakfast was standard, and the attendant was very helpful.
GGuest UserI’m usually pretty happy staying at LaQ and this time was no exception. My only big issue was there was mold growing under the silicone caulk around the tub. I feel this should have been cleaned and replaced. I also would have liked more than 1 regular coffee pack….there was 1 reg/1 decaf for 2 adults who love their coffee. The walls are a little thin, we could hear our neighbors and their children come in at 2am. Other than that our stay was great! Check in was flawless, staff was nice and attentive, bed was comfy, A/C worked great, breakfast smelled yummy but we didn’t have time to eat. Price was excellent for a last minute, holiday weekend booking. I would stay here again!
The rooms are very spacious, very clean, the staff is welcoming & always have smiles on their faces! Very attentive! Breakfast was good, coffee was always hot even during the day! Pool was great, the hot tub didn’t seem to bubble as much aa hoped for but still great! Absolutely loved it, will be returning back for sure!
MMonicaI always travel with my service dog and was pleased to see this location had a ”dog area”. This area had grass well cut, however, there was trash everywhere and the doggie waste station was broken. The waste basket was on the ground and there were no waste bags in the receptacle. I always have bags with me but it's nice to know they're available should a guest forget theirs.
The elevator floor linoleum was very old and dated with chips in it upon entering.
The floor I was on was quite noisy all night. There was a smaller dog barking non-stop for hours. A baby crying/wailing for about 15 minutes( so loud I could hear the baby in my room), the room next to me had their TV on super loud until after 3:30 a.m.
I know it was this time because my dog had to relieve himself at 3:10 a.m.
The staff was the shining light here. The check in agent was friendly and very efficient. The housekeepers were all very friendly as they all said hello upon passing any of them and the check out agent was friendly. Maintenance crew were nice when I ran into them in the hallways.
The staff is what kept me from giving this location all poor ratings. The location was alot further from the beach than I anticipated. Probably won't stay here again due to location and conditions described in review.
GGuest UserI stayed here because my mom was hospitalized unexpectedly. I ended up paying for 5 nights, but leaving in the middle of the last night because there were cockroaches. One ran across my chest as I was laying in bed after a long day at the hospital. I had booked through hotels.com so I contacted them to see if I could get a refund and go somewhere else. They were of no help. After about 20 minutes another cockroach came in through the top of the door to the room. That was the last straw so I called the front desk and was told that because I chose to first contact the website to resolve the issue that I would have to get a refund through them and that I could leave if I wanted to. I gathered my things and went to turn in the keys and the lady and the front desk told me ”¿que te hacen unos cucarachachitos?” What will some little cockroaches do to you? I couldn't believe she was ok and AWARE that the rooms had roaches. I will never stay here again and don't recommend this hotel to anyone.
MMary McRaeHighly recommend ! ”The Monteray Motel Padre Island Corpus Christi, a cozy little motel very close to the Corpus Christi beaches. It's a great affordable central location to explore the Padre National Seashore & also close enough to go explore all Port Aransas has to offer ! Smooth check-in ! Clean ,plenty of hot water,, fresh clean towels and linens ! Clean microwave, ice cold refrigerator & air conditioner worked great !The staff was very kind & made sure my stay was comfortable . I will definitely book here again !
JJimenezThe location is amazing right on the beach! Joan was so sweet & helpful.
The floors were so dirty & water pressure was not good at all in the shower.
You have to pay for breakfast which used to be free & everything was closed.. there pool & restaurant. But very nice place
GGuest UserThe hotel itself is falling apart. They go Ultra Cheap on EVERYTHING, Breakfast (If that is what you can call it.) .. 1 small bottle of watered down shampoo for 2 people.. Rooms are NOT cleaned every day. We got there on Wednesday and left on Saturday. Our room was cleaned 1 time and no soap or anything is left when they clean it... We were on 3 rd floor you had to take elevator which stunk like Sweat socks literally down to bottom floor thru break room to ice machine, but you couldn't there was no plastic bag in the ice bucket, so unless you wanted to put your ice in a bucket someone else had handled you were SOL. Elevator does not run from midnight to 6am.. I could walk down outside stairs and make it to bottom before elevator made it down, It moves then stops then moves again.. The 2 kinds of cheap cereal they have, is in a thing where you turn handle and it will fall into a bowl, it is not replaced every day. I noticed lady picking up cereal thing and sticking it in closet like room and the same stuff was put out next morning..floors on outside of rooms are warped bad. There are no candy machines or soda machines..No inside stairs only some that have been nailed to side of hotel balconies..On walk ways outside rooms there are puddles of water because floor is warped so bad... Everything is cheaped out.. Rooms are fair other than dirt or stain on smoke detectors and ceiling,, but hotel is falling apart.. And elevator stinks bad, I worked for our city garbage division for 25 yrs. before retiring, so smells don't bother me that much but this elevator smelled like molded sweat socks.. Oh yes they did have yogurt for breakfast. I have attached a photo of breakfast.
