The main area of concern is the food. Breakfast is ok, the Pool Bar food is quite good. The evening meal is at times inedible especially the chicken as it’s massively overcooked. The selection of cheese is poor. All the food is at best tepid. The hotel itself is clean and tidy and the majority of the staff especially customer service department/reception are friendly and helpful. Some bar staff/waiters are less so and barely crack a smile, I suspect it’s the long shifts. Despite rules and regulations about reserving sun beds, I seen no evidence of towels being removed after 30 minutes. At times getting a sun-bed was problematic. I suspect later in the season this gets worse. The smoking section by the pool bar was out of use during our stay which was not pointed out to us prior to arrival and the sun bed area above the pool bar was also out of bounds. The layout of the lines of chairs for the entertainment looks awful , why round tables and chairs can’t be used instead is beyond me, it resembles a doctor’s waiting room. Not appealing at all. The entertainment, however was very good especially the singer around the pool area on a Sunday. The water aerobics every day for 2 hours is very annoying especially as this appears to be open to none paying hotel guests and whilst this is taking place the pool cannot be used. The hotel is well located for local shops and the beach. All in all we will not be returning, chatting to other holiday makers who visit other Barcelo’s this particular hotel falls short of expectations. Shame as it could be fantastic.

First time at the hotel and already thinking of returning. Great location and kept spotless all over. WiFi didn't extend out as far as the rooms and only a couple of the TV channels working so that needs to be addressed. Nice resturant and good choices every morning and evening. Modern and large rooms and bathrooms. Only the Wif and TV let's them down which is as a pity as that could be easily rectified.

Second visit to the hotel, and found the previous very good experience was enhanced. The restaurant food selection and quality bettered that which experienced on previous visit - which had been of a good standard.

It had been a nice stay, however was 10 spoilt right at the end, by some very rude male members of the pool bar staff. It had not been explained to me that the all inclusive drinks offer ends when you check out, and instead of them politely explaining this they were rude, borderline aggressive, and turned me away.

The hotel staff were very good however the food isn't great and we was told there was a tennis court and Belize beds that we would be able to pay to use however when we arrived they were temporarily unavailable and the tennis court wasn't in use either I think we should of been told this before we booked. This isn't the first time I have experienced something like this with Barcelo as I stayed in the Lanzarote hotel last year and was told there was mini golf and a spa which once we arrived we was then told there wasn't a spa and the mini golf wasn't open... I usually stay in 4 to 5 star hotels and I would give the Barcelo hotels a 3star rating at max.

Our second visit to this lovely hotel. Everyone so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem. Bedroom was spacious and the cleaning was superb. Food was plentiful and plenty of choice. Fabulous spa facilities. Location brilliant. 5 mins to beach and 5 mins to main shopping street.
