It was raining all the way on the drive to the hotel, so it was great to arrive at a nice hotel. The room was not super modern but it was clean. As it was still raining, we enjoyed the comfortable lounge areas with a fireplace outside the room, to do some reading and catch up with other travellers. The buffet breakfast which was included was excellent. The hotel is a short drive to the visitors center where you can catch the shuttle bus (for a fee) to Dove Lake.

It is a very unique hotel with a sense of age. The entire hotel has only one floor, with the lobby in the middle. The guest rooms spread out to both sides, and there is a lounge hall in each section. It is heated using the ancient charcoal method. The decoration is warm and feels like home. The breakfast is rich and the smoked salmon is delicious. The hotel restaurant can be walked to the back plank road, where you can see kangaroos and wombats. There is also a small exhibition hall opposite the hotel. The hotel price is a bit expensive.
