Cradle Highlander

We loved our stay at Highlanders and definitely hope to return. Our family of four stayed in the Pandani cabin. It was clean, comfortably and cozy - the gas heater kept us warm. It had everything we needed. The location is also amazing - walking distance to the visitor centre from where all the buses into the national park depart, so very convenient. The staff were great to communicate with and answered all my questions in the lead up. Couldn’t fault it and would highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful setting in the wilderness in lovely cabins and fireplaces that make it cosy. Very clean and comfortable beds with all the amenities you need. We didn’t want to leave but will definitely be back. Seen a little wildlife but unfortunately not a wombat.

The cabins are so warm and cosy, with a lovely cast iron stove, fantastic kitchen, big comfy couches and great beds. Even the selection of DVDs they provided were good. They’re set in the beautiful forest with a winding track to get to them. Our first night a currawong and pademelon came to welcome us! The staff were super friendly and helpful, particularly Di, and the location to the visitors centre made everything super convenient. It was the best thing in the world returning to a toasty warm cabin and hot bath after a day spent trekking Cradle Mountaun in the rain. I can’t recommend The Highlanders enough. We loved our stay.

The perfect location for exploring Cradle Mountain. The cabin was beautiful, warm and the perfect size for the family. The kitchen had everything you could need, and it is close to a couple of nice restaurants. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

This place was fully booked solid for month in advance. We managed to find just 2 available nights. Once on location we understood why this place is so popular. The most romantic mountain cabin you can imagine with a personal fire place and crispy clean! We couldn’t have asked for more.

Buttongrass Cabin was a very cute cottage at beautiful Cradle Mountain, very close to the Visitors Centre. We loved our stay there. The cottage was so cosy when the fire was going. The cottage had everything we needed and we especially appreciated having a long soak in the bath after our day’s hiking.

The Highlander staff were excellent! We informed them we were arriving early and they had our room ready and waiting. Communication was first class. Cottages were clean, well configured and had all facilities required. The fire was a godsend on a cold night and easy to light. Great ambience. We would recommend to anyone !!!

What a little gem of a place to stay. The cottages were very well kept and stocked. We were very comfortable and a great location. Lovely and quiet too. The bath was wonderful after a day trekking around Cradle Mountain. Staff were very helpful and polite.

The cottages are in a great location literally across the road from the Visitor Centre where the shuttles go into the park each day so it was easy to walk to. The cottages are pretty basic and very 70's in the decor but are clean and have what you need (except oil, salt & pepper to cook with!! which would have been super handy given there is a kitchen and no shops to pop to at 7pm). Most other places we stayed in Tassie with a kitchen had these essentials. Bed was comfy and shower good so I'd stay again but probably more to do with location than anything else. For the $240/night I think it was a good price within the park area, but also overpriced compared to many other gorgeous places we stayed in Tassie on same trip. Feel like it could do with a little makeover.
