Ramada by Wyndham Cumberland Downtown

The website states they have a bar, but they do not. You can tell this hotel has been struggling for a while. I'm sure they are doing their best.

Incredibly rude staff and unforgiving cancellation policy even in case of weather. We explained how we got stranded half way there due to our car breaking down and a snow storm and the managers only responds was “well rules are rules”

I don’t know why but the owner or one of the workers there is predgudice against homeless people and assumes that we were homeless to and we are not if we have money to pay for room and food and everything else then why would we be homeless

This was the worst Hotel I have ever stayed at. Traveled the world over and this takes the "Worst of the Worst" award. The Hotel was Pet friendly.... bout the "No Smokoking Room had such a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke , it was horrible

Like the renovations. Coffee pot in the room didn’t work.

Disappointing. We arrived at 2:10 and were told that they would charge us a $20 fee to check in 50 minutes early. Staff are indifferent. Breakfast provided was minimal. Run down appearance to the facility.

For what I paid, this hotel was okay. I think new management would help. The guy who is usually behind the counter is not at all friendly, but grudgingly does his job. Same with the young woman - she had her phone on speaker and was mid-conversation as she was checking me in and out. (In contrast, the part-time younger guy who seems to be there in the afternoons, obviously an employee, was really friendly and helpful.) It doesn't help the overall "feel" of the place that the lobby is dimly lit, freezing cold, and that staff are bundled up in sweatshirts and jeans. Unlike some other reviewers, I found my room was clean and the bed surprisingly comfortable. I was glad I asked for a room away from the train track side as I'm the world's lightest sleeper. They accommodated my request but trains could still be noisy at times; I was so glad I brought my beloved noise machine. There was a decent-sized mini-fridge and microwave in the room, both of which worked and were clean. Martin's Groceries is within walking distance, and a decent big store, so if you're staying any length of time you can just stock the 'fridge with food. The heat pump in the room worked fine. "Continental breakfast" was the bare minimum and only served until 9:30am. I just bought food at Martin's and ate in my room. Coffee service in the room is also the bare minimum. The hotel is within walking distance from the Amtrak station, which is a real plus, but it's not a nice part of town and I was a bit nervous walking to the hotel at 8:30 pm (delayed train). There's nothing they can do about the location (maybe that's why this Ramada is so cheap), obviously, but a bit of effort by management and a few nice touches would make a world of difference.
