Hostel is located opposite the main road after our from the ancient Dali gate, so is very convenient to enter Dali street by foot. Room are well manage by elderly friendly couple. Comfortable bed with classic design surrounding with book shelf. Hope their business continues growth and provide affordable stay for solo traveller. My window can view the Cangshan mountain.

The staff are very helpful. They are very enthusiastic when they tried to help me rent a bike and call a taxi in early morning. The hotel is right opposite the old town, very convenient. I should recommend everyone this place if they want to stay near the old town.

Absolutely lovely hosts!

Song and Dave speak excellent English and Song especially was very helpful and apologetic about only having a room with two single beds rather than the double we booked (a conflict between bookings made on Trip & C-trip). Nevertheless the beds were comfortable and we slept well. Room was clean and tidy although no toilet paper and the flexible shower broken (large overhead shower working). No kettle in room but community water boiler on ground floor in courtyard. Nice a**osphere in hotel and architecturally satisfying, great views from roof where there is a place to do laundry and hang clothes to dry. Short walk to ancient town, and the neighborhood around the hotel also worth exploring. Recommended.

The name of this hostel is Jade Emu - Jinyuyuan in Chinese. The location on Trip was out by a couple of streets and I ended up at Lily Pad hostel which was signposted nearby to ask for their help. The boy on reception was sweet and tried to be helpful but unfortunately he didn't know the answers to most of my questions, such as the route to the cable car for the mountain which is fairly close by but I would recommend still booking a taxi (30 min walk uphill). The room was large but very cold in January. There is an electric blanket but no other heating and sliding single glaze doors. Its walking distance (8 mins) from the old town across a busy road. This hostel has seen better days and perhaps the staff will have updated training with hopefully tourists arriving in the near future.

Owner are foreigners and easy to comunque, place are clean and new , location is not on the old center but is convenient when you go for hiking

Great stay!

Excellent place to stay, the staff are helpful and knowledgeable about what to do. Great library to do some work or read a book. Away from the noise of the old town.

The staff was great speaking English and very helpful. Also there were other foreigners which is nice. I had a private room which was nice, but you can hear the people talking from outside.

Our stay was good. Room was comfortable but not cleaned each day. No fresh towels each day or water in rooms. Other then that we enjoyed our stay.

The best place to stay in dali

Did the trick several times! A good jump pad for exploring the region, especially the Cangshan mountain area.
