The best hotel in the town for sure. We had been told that the hotel was prepared for this opening for 5 years. It was belong to a fortune family named after DONG. The original house was built since 1947. The manager in the house spent an hour telling us the story behind this project, about the village, tips for traveling nearby areas while treating us the black tea. We had complimentary red wine and sparkling waters at lounge area during evening time. They kept as much original components of the house as they could during renewal. And all in-house facilities are well designed and maintained. You can find the lemon trees all of the corners. Front entrance faces a big green wheat field and has lots of cafeshops next door. Another small entrance is connecting to its a bookstore with its own cafes. I like Xizhou Village more than any other places in Dali. And the memory of hearing rain drops outside the room is a treasure for me for this trip.

The friendly staff here said they haven't been getting too many foreign guests recently, but they were very welcoming and this hostel is certainly a hassle-free choice for foreign travellers. The location is excellent; on the border of the old town, nearby a row of local markets, allowing you to experience an authentic glimpse of local life whilst remaining close to all the tourist hotspots. My only gripe was that the standard private room didn't have any toilet paper or soap. Overall, though, well recommended.
