Central Gleneagles Heritage Resort -The Mall Road Darjeeling

A number of poor experiences with this hotel: First, please note that this hotel (& many other hotels) are on Mall road where vehicles are not allowed. So your cab will drop you some distance away and you'll need to walk the rest of they having your bags. Despite multiple prior conversations on the phone, the hotel manager did inform us about is resulting in a lot of confusion when we reached Darjeeling Then, they messed up our booking totally and forced us to change to a new room every day during our stay. The manager claimed his computer got formatted hence he lost all records. And he expects us to believe this explanation. There's a pamphlet in the room that says brekfast starts at 7 am but it wasn't ready even by 8:15 am. Staff claims the breakfast times have changed and it starts at 8 am now but there are no notices to inform you about this. Half of the mentioned items in breakfast are not available. To sum up, his is an old property that is being managed very poorly and incompetently by a disinterested staff. The hotel is best avoided.

It used to be a private bungalow of former Tata chairman Mr. Rusi Modi. Most sought after place in Darjeeling. This has been converted to a boutique resort. I am fortunate to get a chance to stay here. It was indeed a lovely experience, best view of mountains and spacious room

This place is simply beautiful, no words can express, view is stunning. All the rooms were mountain and valley facing. Beautiful early morning sunrise view from the rooms. Great place to walk around, with greenery all over. Amazing cool weather. Spacious rooms, good food.

If you are planning to come to this hotel, please be aware that the actual location of this resort is way off from the location showing on Google maps. From the Mall you have to take the path towards Mahakal Temple & Market. Note that 4 wheelers are not allowed on this stretch till the hotel gate. Guests have to walk for some distance. That maybe an issue if you are visiting with senior citizens or small kids.

1. Booked a room in a higher floor with mountain (Kanchenjunga) view, instead they gave us one in the ground floor facing the valley. 2. The extra cot was placed at the foot of the double bed where the mattress was shorter than its length. 3. There was power failure the whole night till morning and the generator was not switched on. As a result we could not get ready for Tiger Hill trip. When asked, hotel staff said that generator was not powered on so as not to wake up guests. 4. The cover of the commode in the bathroom did not stay upright and after repeated complaints got fixed on the last day of our stay. 5. The recreation room was in shambles and was locked from outside. 6. Each staff had their own associations with different tourist cab drivers and would individually pursue guests to take their services.

Its a very nice Hotel, location is very prime, 5mins walking from mall road, food is tasty, hotel staffs are very cooperative, specially Ms.Neha Thapa, she helped me a lot during my 2 days stay. Must stay once you plan Darjeeling...

The overall experience at Central Gleneagles was very good which included the hospitality, food and rooms with good views. Lastly, service provided in terms of porting your luggage and very quick deliveries in terms of food was an add-on.

I visited Darjeeling at the end of August for a short tour with my parents, my sister who came back from Poland and I who was visiting from Canada, The service staff was prompt and provided exceptional service. This was in addition to the great location the hotel is located at, with scenic views all around, and the food quality in the restaurant was awesome as well. The aesthetic of the rooms is very old school and reminded me of the old victorian times, given it's a heritage hotel. All in all, I would recommend it to anyone.

If you plan to visit Darjeeling and do not get any hotel/resort except this Hotel PLEASE DROP THE PLAN 🙏🏻. We got room 201 , OMG how horrible is the room / bathroom.. they are charging high because of the location but do not maintain the heritage… third class service and the staff are very much aloof … We are very much disappointed.. only food thing is the location… but staying at hotel was horrible
