Embassy Suites by Hilton des Moines Downtown

We were rights next to the ice maker and it was leaking and was right next to our room and the water from that came in and the floor was soaked to the ppint of every step you took you cound see the water around your shoe the worst part was getting up and walking around bare footed was quite the surprise .let staff know and they showed up to clean up around the ice machine next to the room would have liked to have heard a thank you or something but nothing was said the staff was very friendly on cheak in not the same when checking out

Nice hotel. Needs more parking.

We had 3 kids and 3 adults. We particularily enjoyed the pool, breakfast and the location.

I felt that the poop needed improvement just like the rooms they need it an upgrade on furniture better mattress and cleaner room it was dusty and found items that did not belong to us. For the hotel to be called and embassy it was not that good when I hear embassy I picture my self big nice clean hotel and better then other hotels around the area

This was an awful place to stay, unless you are a sports family and you allow your kids to run wild. Checked in on a Friday before Memorial Day and immediately saw tons of young baseball kids running and shouting and generally ****ing around on each floor, god knows where parents were. The staff told us this was typical and we should have seen it the weekend prior. Manager Steve said there’s nothing I can do, but it’s worse when it’s hockey or wrestling. Was in able to use the hotel facilities— 40 unruly kids in a pool— no thanks. Breakfast time, um, no after seeing these feral kids fingering all the food. Worse, we thought the air conditioner was dripping, but after taking a shower at the poor attempt of a somewhat zero entry shower the entire bathroom floor was flooded. Used every towel plus the four extras I had to order. I have to imagine the dripping was not the air, but the showers with the same design from the floor above. Nice health hazard. Paid $200 night on a holiday weekend to have kids wake us up both mornings yelling and shouting outside the door, water pooling form the “air conditioner” in front of the fridge area, a shower that didn’t contain water and no free breakfast because as I stood to wait in the buffet there were kids sampling the bacon and I was just grossed out. Talked to a lot of the staff and they are burned out from the feral kids. It’s just a shame. Then, Steve the manager says, I get it, it’s awful, let me give you some extra Hilton honors points for the inconvenience. Two weeks later, nothing. It’s a great location, but DO NOT STAY HERE.

There’s no door on the shower so there was water coming out while showering. I was also charged for a water that I didn’t buy and the credit card company didn’t take the charge off so I was left with an extra $6 to pay. The hotel was gorgeous though, so we definitely do want to come back.

We had a pleasant stay and will stay again.There were a few cosmetic things that could be improved on; like where the carpet met the walls. And something i noticed was the door was obnoxiously loud on opening/closing, which for littles or the light sleeper might be disturbed. However the continental breakfast was AWESOME! They had an omelet station that was a great touch and a fountain pop machine as well.

Attempted to check into our upgraded corner suite at 4 pm (check in time) and were told it wasn’t ready. Upgrade refunded and given free parking, put in cheaper room. The common areas of the hotel are run down and filthy - looks like they haven’t been vacuumed in years. Dirty glass on the sill outside our door all day; some kind of a tag on the floor outside the door all day. Room itself is dirty and needs remodeling. The kicker was seeing some kind of white fluid on the bathroom sink backsplash that didn’t come from either of us.

The only positive is the location. The attitude of the staff is poor. Nobody seems to be interested in customer service from the front desk to the bar to housekeeping. We were there for a youth sports event. We arrived around 3:10-15 on Saturday. The front-desk staff told us no rooms were ready. They assigned us a room even and told us they would let us know through the Hilton app when it was ready. Would be less than 30 minutes. After 30 minutes we checked and were rudely told it would be 4pm. At 4pm we checked again. Our assigned room was still dirty. Stated they didn't know when it would be cleaned. Asked if another room was available. The answer was YES it had been sitting there ready for some time. WHAT? The rooms are old, lots of odd marks on the walls, in serious need of repaint. Furniture is old and worn out. I refused to sit on any of it. The Embassy Suites happy hour was standard for brand. Breakfast was below average for the brand. The Bonvoy Property we stayed at the night before was better. Elevators were difficult to obtain during busy times. Our room did not have a hair dryer so I ended up looking like a wet poodle Saturday night. Would not stay here again.
