Just an overnight business stay. Beautiful and well-appointed hotel set in wooded grounds at the end of a long driveway. Good sized double room with everything needed EXCEPT a decent WiFi signal. It's an old rambling building and this may have contributed to poor signal, both for WiFi and mobile. This was a bit of a nuisance but not even of a bother to put me off staying again if passing through the area.

Breakfast not too good, dirty and vary old glasses and plates. Very loudly fans in toilets in the rooms. Bed was very comfortable, nice swimming pool and spa (sauna, steam room and jacuzzi).

Have stayed at the Keavil before about 18 months ago. As much as it’s nice, it wasn’t as good on account of service, food & breakfast set-up. My room was lovely: traditional-windows looking out onto pretty grounds, was quiet & clean. Receptionist was lovely & very helpful. Waiting staff in bar & restaurant seemed stretched/short staffed - a few times I had to wait quite a while for staff to attend. Food is pricey & would say similar quality but less £ many other places…..had to send my dinner back as the chicken and bacon in the burger had been so flattened & overcooked I could barely get my teeth through it & just about choked on the only bite I took. Gobsmacked it was sent out from the kitchen & had to prompt the waiter to take it away from me……they duly apologised & prepared a much better replacement. Breakfast is now buffet style & has suffered for it: things like haggis & black pudding are all soggy from condensation of the hot-servers & many items weren’t out initially (think I got there an hour after service started but things appeared as I left that hadn’t been out when I arrived). Stand out elements were the room, some of the staff & use of the leisure facilities. The health club was immaculately clean and the pool the perfect temp.

We had a restful stay for 2 nights. Welcoming staff. Comfortable spacious room looking over the grounds. Enjoyed watching the pheasants on the lawn in the morning.

Very loud talking across windows each side of my bedroom on the Sunday night of my stay, wanted an early night but the talking made it impossible

What used to one of my fav pit stops when travelling on business has now also taken on contracts to house people with nowhere to live who do not care about the hotel or paying guests. Spoiling what was once a great hotel.

Booked 2 night stay B&B in exec double. Arrived 12.30, no lunch available. Nice lunch at nearby Adamson Hotel. Room and ensuite bathroom clean and comfortable bed. Shower luke warm only and low pressure. Reserved table for evening meal first night. Sirloin steaks were a cheap cut, tough, full of gristle and almost inedible. Accompanying veg luke warm and all served on cold plates. Complained to waiter with little acknowledgement. Thoughts on lack of food quality and service were acknowledged by other diners. Breakfast on first morning, not greeted on arrival, service almost non existent, the few staff engaging in conversation with each other rather than attending to guest requirements. Continental - poor and very limited choice of cereal, breads, fruit and cold meats. Cooked food - Poached eggs hard boiled, black pudding like rubber, bacon soggy, steamed and tough. Hot buffet only luke warm on cold plates. No tea or coffee offered on arrival or at our table, had to look for a member of staff to request tea/coffee pots. Coffee when provided was weak, luke warm and tasteless. We dined elsewhere on our second evening owing to the poor quality of the food offered. Second day breakfast - additional staff in attendance, although similar limited food on offer. Staff slow to clear dirty plates and cutlery as previous. Summary - Not to the high standard one would expect from a Best Western hotel. Evidence particularly in the dining room of cost cutting and poor or no staff training and a lack of quality as a result. Larger choice and better quality for continental and hot breakfasts desirable. This appears to be as a result of a management issue focused on cutting cost at the expense of quality. Hotel in a lovely location currently let down by a lack of adherence to the high standards expected from a Best Western hotel.
