"Our family had a lovely stay at the Sweet Chestnut. It's a decent, no-fuss place that was perfect for our needs, offering good value for money. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, and quiet. The location is fantastic—especially if you're using it as a base to explore or just passing through, with plenty of dining and leisure options nearby. It’s worth noting for other families that there is no elevator, so you’ll need to carry luggage up the stairs, and there is no microwave in the room, which could be a drawback for some. However, we really enjoyed our time and would recommend it for a comfortable and convenient family stopover."

"Hotels in Edinburgh were too expensive for Halloween, so I chose this one a bit further from the city center, but it was easily accessible by public transport. The front desk staff were very friendly, and the room felt warm and inviting. I mentioned the sheets were a little dirty, and the manager personally changed them for me, which I felt a little embarrassed about. The view from the window was of a peaceful Scottish autumn landscape. I initially thought traveling to and from the city would be time-consuming, but I unexpectedly saw Scottish pastures and sheep, as well as the World Heritage-listed Forforth Railway Bridge and Queensferry Bridge along the way – a truly delightful surprise! I had seen the railway bridges from the plane; they were magnificent. I never imagined we would actually pass by them – a wonderful unexpected bonus. It was a pleasant surprise, and I truly experienced the authentic Scottish countryside. I loved it; it was definitely worth the trip."

"Couldnt get proper sleep creeking roof, could hear guy sleeping above snoring and creecking noises when ever he moved. Manager needs to sleep in room 29 have someone sleep in the above room to experience this. Bad sound proofing even for a 2star hotel. Dont expect this from a 4star claiming hotel. Stained carpets as well, room needs redecoration its tired"

"Was here for 3 nights. What a lovely spot made very special by the staff who were there to help. Well informed about dietary allergies and very in informative as to what we needed to know. Chealsey was so bubbly and welcoming. Staff at the bar/breakfast area were very attentive to our party and all the other guests ( sorry I didn’t catch their names). I asked the cook to pass on my thanks to her manager. Turns out she was the manager covering during a busy period, with a big smile on her face. Lovely clean breakfast area with excellent food. Well done team."
