Absolutely brilliant experience considering the price! We knew we were going to be late to check in when stuck in traffic so called up to let them know and they said they hoped we were okay and wished us a safe journey - so kind! Staff were super friendly and welcoming which was lovely! The bar was closing as we arrived but we still managed to get a drink before heading to the rooms. They were in a separate building to the pub. Although the shop across the road had an alarm going off, you couldn’t hear anything at all from the rooms! Really nice touches having glasses as well as mugs, tea coffee and biscuits, really impressed for a budget hotel… and it was spacious, clean, comfy with air con that worked. Key card entry to the building and security at the main doors also helped things feel safe for us two ladies! We also ate food the following evening in the pub which was super quick, really hot and tasty as well as reasonable. Overall, never been so happy with value for money at a budget hotel within a good distance from amenities and a short drive from the racecourse, really chuffed - thank you! :)

The hotel itself isn't terrible. The staff were friendly. I had a standard room, modern bathroom, looked lovely, but shower and bathroom taps leaked every time the room above used their bath/shower. So obviously aesthetics over decent plumbing on the bathrooms! The lock on the bedroom door was questionable at best, it was obvious the door had been forced at some point and broken locks replaced! Didnt fill me with confidence. The Breakfast was OK (dont expect even a choice of how you want your eggs its scrambled or nothing!) but cooked to order, which is a bonus. The worst thing about this hotel is its in a very run down town and some of their residents, who im assuming are living here through emergency housing plans represent this, no respect for anyone else, shouting and screeching in hallways in the early hours. I expect the homeless man who sits on the steps of the next door building outside would have at least been more respectful had he been ever offered a room! I wouldn't return, I'd rather stay 30 miles out of town and commute in than stay anywhere near the centre of Doncaster again! Felt very unsafe both in and out of the hotel. Awful place! Feel sorry for the hotel, think they're fighting a losing battle. Its one of the worst Mercure I've stayed in, it's grimy, stains on curtains, carpets you dont want to put your fet on etc, but the FOH seem to be doing their best, but even when here as a place to sleep when away for business, its not a place you can relax!

We booked our evening wedding reception here in October and couldn't have been more impressed with the venue and the staff. Although we didn't actually book as a wedding package (we booked the VIP party package) the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. My wife stayed the night before and enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant too. Despite the function room being booked the night before, meaning we weren't able to set everything up until the morning, the staff actually took over and decorated everything for us so we didn't have to worry on our wedding day. It looked amazing, even better than we could have imagined, and everyone loved the hot buffet food. Even though there was about 120 guests there was never much of a queue at the bar due to the excellent bar staff, and so many people commented on how great a night it was. There was one lady in particular who was very helpful to my partner and helped organise the day and sorted everything the morning after too. Unfortunately my partner is rubbish with names so I'm sorry I don't know it, but it was the blonde lady who works on reception. Thank you so much you were fantastic! If you're in Doncaster and looking for somewhere local to hold your evening reception, or even just a party, I would highly recommend! The suite we stayed in was brilliant and very spacious too.

Excellent facilities, lovely clean rooms and very helpful staff. The family room was fantastic for us as it had a double bed and two single beds in there. When you book a family room, sometimes it is a pull out bed that is really uncomfortable, but this was a proper bed. The bathroom is well stocked with towels and toiletries and a good range of drinks in the room. Fantastic hotel.

WE HAD A FRIDGE The toilet sit had some soap smudge on it and initially thought is something else but if foamed when tried to clean it (I always have sanitizer with me as is only human to miss a spot and do a mistake. Didn't kill me cleaning that myself. Housekeeping job ain't easy. Bless you all. Just keep a better eye to avoid Karen type❤️) The receptionists were all friendly and happy to assist me with both check in and check out. We absolutely loved our room and the view was magnificent. The dawn was heavenly seen from our window❤️ What I loved the most was the fact that in the room we had a FRIDGE. Many hotels don't have that anymore and imagine having a room without a fridge with this heatwave going on 🥵 I will attach a photo with our beautiful view🤩 This hotel will be my top choice whenever I'll need a room around the area. Clean room, clean hallway, clean reception area. Please keep an eye for the accessible rooms. Read all description and detail before booking as they have special rooms for people with a health condition and the room will have some things at a low level to the ground. Will be your fault for not choosing the right room not the hotel's as you need to read description always. Don't take it out to the staff for your own mistake😊 Seen a lot complaining about that, as I've seen also about the rooms accessible and didn't understand the term initially, until I went through the details. After reading the details I knew exactly what room I need to book and what would not be convenient for me🙌 Bless you all and hope this review will be of help to some of you at least 😊
