This place renewed all my confidence in the Ritz brand. The service was impecable, detailed, and on point. The extraordinary service started 2 months before we arrived with on-site staff helping to organize our trip. You are assigned a butler on arrival and in this case the butler is actually very helpful. Ours (Gerson) arranged all our transportation for nighly dinners, secured cabana rentals, and was always accessible. We participated in 3 excursions with the Ambassadors of the Environment program which was great. The water park on the property was clean and the perfect size. The property is massive and there was never a shortage of things to do. Pools, spa, the ocean, a sports complex with basketball, pickleball, bocce, tennis... The staff at the main breakfast resteraunt was so warm and friendly. They knew us by the 2nd day and we enjoyed starting our mornings there. Everyone makes you feel more than just a guest. They genuinely want you to have the best experience possible. And we certainly did!

Our stay at the hotel was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff provided attentive service, the room was immaculate, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. The dining experience was exquisite, and the overall ambiance was luxurious yet welcoming.

I just returned from much need rest with my wife and thought i would surprise her with dinner at the Ritz in Dorado Beach. I made the reservation weeks in advance and was excited to share this experience with my wife. Our ship arrived in San Juan April 8th and I rented a car to drive to dinner. We had a very small window of time and unbeknownst to me the Ritz does not allow early arrivals for dinner. We drove the one hour to Dorado arriving an hour early hoping to share a drink before dinner. Shockingly, we were told we could not enter until 10 minutes prior to our reservation. Not knowing this was the policy coupled with the embarrassment of being denied entry and dismissive attitude of the front gate attendants, we turned around and headed back to the ship. Being a Bonvoy elite member, who travels for a living, I am disappointed, disgusted and angry. Not once when booking the dinner reservation did anyone inform us that we would not be allowed to share a drink prior to dinner. Not once when we received a reminder of our reservation, were we informed of any restrictions on entry. This is not how you treat loyal customers! Shame on you!

This was our second time here; my husband, son (age 10), and I came for our 15th wedding anniversary. Every visit is like a dream! The hotel is magnificent but the service is what sets this hotel apart! The staff is outstanding! The restaurants are wonderful; I highly recommend the Chef's Table experience! You get assigned a personal "embajador" to help with every set of the trip (Valerie and Luiggi were wonderful). There was a slight delay with our room when checking in and Valerie went above and beyond to make up for it! The off site concierge team of Maria, Angel, and Oliver were our personal favorites. They always go the extra mile to make us feel at home and were so patient with all our questions! Maria is absolutely fantastic and helped create a special surprise for us for our anniversary! We visited the team everyday at the library and they were always happy to chat and engage with us! Everything at the hotel was superb and if there was ever anything we needed help with, the staff was super professional and kind! My son loved that the front desk and bell hop/car staff helped him look for local "coqui" frogs at night. The hotel is a 15 out of 10! Truly a fantastic experience very time!

I've been to my fair share of hotels and have to say that this one is absolutely perfect, The facilities are gorgeous, the staff is over the top friendly, and the food is delicious. If you've done your diligence on the Dorado you know what you're getting (and you should know about the entirety of the costs), but it's hard to imagine any real complaint about the resort. Book with confidence.

Fantastic resort. I thought the restaurant options were great and staff incredibly well trained. Also fantastic pools and great ocean front. My only annoyances were the resort fee, which felt really inappropriate at a resort (like a petrol station charging a fee for allowing someone to pump petrol). Related, the surcharge for using the cabanas at the pool and ocean side also felt excessive and it was embarrassing watching families put in a difficult position of having to decline the fee in front of their children. If there was no resort fee (or even if it was part of the room charge) would definitely have been 5 out of 5.

The most unbeilable luxurious beautiful resort we ever stayed at. The room had private splash pool with shower that was open air ceiling. Pools and grounds were magnificent. Staff was extremely and polite and helpful. Can’t wait to return.

Returned from a five night stay at the Ritz Reserve. Stayed in a 1BR Beachfront Suite on West Beach. I try to give a balanced review highlighting both positives and downsides. I’ll start with the end. If it's in your budget, the Ritz Carlton Reserve in Dorado is definitely worth it and I hope to be back. Property/Setting The resort is set within the Dorado development and is a stunning setting on the north of Puerto Rico. In addition to the resort, guests have access to golf and tennis that are part of the development. We played the Sugarcane course and although it was one of the lesser courses, thought it was still pretty nice. The property is about a 40-45 minute drive from San Juan and the airport, so aside from a day tour, we pretty much stayed on the property. Given its size, never felt like we were running out of places to explore. Room As I said we stayed in a 1BR beachfront suite with a plunge pool. The room was huge and literally 30 yards from the beach. Ground floor room was a little less private, but not to the level of being a problem. Access to the two pools and the beach was so good and they were never crowded, that not sure I’d splurge for the suite and plunge pool again. If you want to go that route, suggest you get the rooms on the second floor which come with rooftop pool and terrace (for even more $). Wouldn’t fret too much on East v West beach locations. West beach has better access to the beach, but both are fine. Dining Since we really didn’t venture off property that much we dined at almost all the venues. We did the Omakase sushi option one night and it was terrific. Highly recommend. We dined at COA the last night and again highly recommend. Food was excellent, service was very polished, and setting was amazing. The other restaurants were sort of average with above average price tags. Nothing awful, but not notable. There are many great options off the resort, but most require the drive back into San Juan which we just didn’t want to do. There was a good “grab and go” option at La Cocina which we did for breakfast each day and lunches on a couple of days. Quick, easy, and nice to enjoy on your patio. Pool/Beach There were two main pools and both were really nice and neither were crowded. The pool by the Check In desk is more adult oriented with more comfortable chairs, but both were nice with access to both pool and beach. Service I thought service was excellent - really five star. I read a few reviews with complaints. Haven’t stayed anywhere that “bats a thousand”, but service here was as good as I have experienced anywhere. We had a “butler” assigned to us who took care of anything we needed in terms of reservations or arrangements. Value If you are signing up to stay at any five star resort, you already know you will be paying 25-50% more for the same thing you might find back home. Not my favorite part of the experience, but sort of comes with the territory. If you ar

We came to this property because 20 years ago we came here for our honeymoon when it was a Hyatt branded property. the rooms are the same, but with Ritz Carlton touches -- beautiful marble and travertine, soaking tub, outdoor shower, luxurious bedding and furniture, etc. The beach facilities are nice and attendants were very good at keeping us hydrated, setting up and shifting umbrellas (they are surprisingly small compared to other Ritzs) and the morning and afternoon treats. Naiomi was a delight. The Library was a nice surprise with morning coffee and baked goods (the banana bread is addictive) and the evening rum tasting with generous pours and lots of education about this local staple. The food was delicious at every venue -- we tried them all even the Cocina cafe which was very good - but was surprised at the lack of options on most menus. Pork is a mainstay of Caribbean cuisine, but was hard to find any where. Not many options at different price points -- COA had only one cold appetizer for less than $50. Made it hard to want to go back to any place more than once for a one week stay. Melao was one of the best meals, but the service was very mechanical with plates being delivered without the usual fanfare of explaining the various components, flavor profile etc. The spa was good, but highly overpriced. $1000+ for 2 90 minute massages once tip and tax were included are a record setter of the 8 Ritz Spas we;ve sampled. Sitting in the chaises at the end of the entry reflection pool my husband was eaten alive by bugs in the grass. The butler/ambassador program needs completely revamped. Response times were slow with text messages going unanswered for 15 minutes or more -- and not just for us, our neighbors were complaining about things not getting done and handled them themselves. Housekeeping was spotty, missed us at least one day, came very late another, and even showed up knocking on our door at a late hour after we told our Butler not to bother as we were going to sleep. Our last night was a total disaster from a service standpoint. Super Bowl sunday. Not a surprise, its in the calendar years in advance. Texted butler for some drinks to our room, got no response. So I went do the bar and got them myself. After finsihing them, went to the library to grab a final taste of our favorite rums. Came back to the room to find a delivery the drinks we ordered over an hour ago and received no reply to our request. At 530 pm, we called in room dining to order dinner. Got their voicemail, left a message with my order. 30 minutes passed with no food and no call back acknowledging our orderd. texted the butler asking them to confirm with IRD that our request was received, and they replied with a non-sequiter about our drink order. I reiterated my request to have our room service order confirmed. I spelled out exactly what we ordered. 15 minutes later Im told its a 2 hour wait for our dinner delivery. Mind you, we tried to get dinner reserv
