Best Western Wessex Royale Hotel Dorchester

The staff were very helpful. They helped me to bring the heavy luggage upstairs no matter check-in and check-out. The reception ladies were cheerful and very nice. I will come again and recommend to my friends.

Nice market town. Visit on Wednesday for market. Great choice for breakfast, full English, fruit, pastries. Always choose the smoked salmon.

Great hotel, very warm welcome and overall great service and staff. Rooms are spacious and clean, our request for an upper floor was accommodated.

Like a lot of the hotel's reviews, the staff at the hotel are excellent. All are friendly and very accommodating, in particular, Caroline was very helpful. Breakfast is excellent and I would rate as better than the majority of hotels that I have stayed at. Would highly recommend the hotel.

Stayed for a 2 night weekend. Everything about the hotel made you feel welcome, from the reception through to breakfast. Our courtyard room was really good, comfy bed, wet room shower room with everything you could need. And despite being a ground floor room it was very quiet. As previous reviews have mentioned, a super breakfast from the buffet selection to the made to order hot dishes, and all in a very elegant dining room. The hotel has a small car park, but there is also a long stay car park a few minutes walk away, (Top o Town), charging £6.00 for 24 hours, very reasonable for town centre parking. We really enjoyed our stay and would be perfectly happy to visit again if we have the chance. Even though the hotel does not offer evening meals there are several dining options within easy walking distance. So this should really not put anyone off from staying there.

The Best Western Wessex Royal Hotel, provided the perfect base for our annual golf trip. The hotel was clean and tidy and provided all of the essentials required from an English hotel, but the trip was made "special" by a great team of staff, who all gave the impression that you as the customer "counted". On top of that, the bar provided all of the essentials for liquid refreshment and a special mention must go to the breakfast service team, with a nice choice of "cooked to order" items complementing a nicely presented buffet of cereals, fruit and pastries. Once again, the service element of the breakfast raised the standard to "5 star".

I really enjoyed my stay at the Wessex Royal. I travelled alone intending to do some walks in various places across west Dorset so it was an excellent base. I had a room at the top with a view over the roofs of Dorchester which I loved. The breakfast was something to look forward to each day, with several options including a Full English or Eggs Royale, both delicious. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. I had looked at various AirBnB options beforehand but was glad I chose this hotel in the end - it offered very good value for money. It is close to a pretty park, a short walk from the Wednesday market, and just up the road from the lovely Dorset Museum. All in all highly recommended.
