We had a very pleasant stay at the Casterbridge, personally hosted by Noorani, its experienced, friendly and informative Owner. The room was clean and spacious, beautifully decorated, with all the amenities and comforts of home away from home. The breakfasts were tailored to our wishes -- an ample and delicious start to our day exploring the sites of the city and environs. Off-street parking is offered free, a block away, which was important, given the guesthouse's urban address. The common areas of the Casterbridge are decorated with a variety of interesting, eclectic art works, and the building is convenient to many sites. When we checked out I accidentally left behind a well-loved shawl; I contacted Noorani right away, and she promptly went out of her way to mail it back to me. We highly recommend this hotel.

My recent stay at the Casterbridge was definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in Dorchester. When I arrived I was welcomed by Noorani who is breath of fresh air, with her relaxing and welcoming vibe which is reflected on the a**osphere throughout the hotel. The Hotel is spotlessly clean with every attention to detail. The room itself was lovely and the bed was so comfy. I will definitely return to the Casterbridge.

Comfy, cosy and classy! We had a fantastic time in Dorchestor and the Casterbridge made sure we had comfy beds, delicious food and the big smiles. Their staff were very warm and kind and let me have a couple of extra sausages at breakfast. If you’re going to Dorchestor, I can’t recommend this place enough!

My wife and I have just spent a delightful long weekend at The Casterbridge in Dorchester. It’s a pretty Georgian townhouse conveniently located for the High Street and the river. It has its own lovely, quiet garden - an unexpected pleasure viewed from the beautiful conservatory where breakfast is served. The charming owner Noorani clearly takes pride in the breakfasts offered - both continental and cooked dishes made freshly to order with your selected ingredients at your chosen time. Absolutely delicious! Noorani obviously takes pleasure in making her guests feel welcome and comfortable. She is warm, friendly and hospitable and full of helpful local knowledge. She does everything possible to make your stay a special one. Our room was a quiet, smartly decorated room on the garden side with a spacious en suite bathroom.

Just back from a lovely stay at The Casterbridge. We only had the pleasure of one night as it was a flying visit to Dorchester to attend the Cider Festival (which also amazing). The location of the B&B was perfect for our needs, situated in the high street where all the local amenities are and only a 5-10 minute walk from our destination of Borough Gardens. We had fantastic communication from Noorani before we arrived with details and postcode of where to park and also when the free car parking was available from. Noorani also sent us a list of restaurants that were close by and gave us top tips of what she rate it the best in terms of quality of food or best price, and that was super helpful the room itself was on the top floor of the lovely historic building and had all our require needs including a fan which is situated in one of the wardrobes as the room was quite warm GT, the warmer weather, the only thing that would make my review a five star review would be the size of the bed we had a double bed in our room which was super comfortable, but smaller than we are used to so for us to mark the experience perfect, would have been to have had a larger bed. Breakfast was delicious and the food is sauce from local farms and cooked fresh. As you arrive downstairs to the breakfast room. Noorani and her team were very attentive and offered us refills of tea. Coffee, fruit juice, more toast, more eggs, more sausage, more bacon in fact, which was really kind. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Casterbridge. Noorani has very good knowledge of the surrounding areas and can advise you on local attractions, Museums, beaches, pubs, restaurants to visit if that’s what you’re looking for. We hope to be able to visit The Casterbridge again sometime soon. Xx

The most charming spot in Dorset! Located near Dorchester's main street in a quaint 17th-century house, The Casterbride could be your cozy, friendly home base in Hardy's "Wessex." The rooms are good-sized, especially for such an historic site, with lovely views and excellent facilities. The owner and staff are super-welcoming and super-helpful and fun. We'll be back . . .

17th century house; we stayed in the attic room that was flooded with light and had a fabulous view of sloped mossy roofs and lush gardens. Breakfast was fine and the proprietor was super friendly and willing to let us check in early. Easy to walk to from the English rail and on high street near historic pubs, churches, shops, coffee, and an easy hike down Frome River, Thomas Hardy's Max Gate, Roman ruins, and Dorset museum.
