Superbe hôtel idéalement situé au milieu de la vallée de San Gerardo de Dota et toujours géré par les descandants des pionniers qui ont "découvert" la vallée dans les années '50. Nous avions choisi cet hôtel pour sa proximité avec le parc national Los Quetzales. Finalement, nous sommes restés dans la superbe vallée de San Gerardo de Dota qui héberge des quetzals à l'année grâce à la présence d'avocatiers du Guatemala - dont ils se nourissent des fruits. Le domaine de l'hôtel comporte un jardin aménagé pour les nombreux colibris, divers sentiers de randonnée, dont certains particulièrement prisés des ornithologues, ainsi qu'un mirador offrant un superbe panorama sur la vallée. Nous avons réalisé une sortie d'observation du quetzal (entre autres) en compagnie de Raul Fernandez Chacon (Whatsapp +***********), petit-fils des pionniers qui se sont établis dans la vallée; a réserver en direct ou par le biais de l'hôtel. Spa équippé de jacuzzis et d'un sauna et restaurant impeccables.

Mi esposa me llevo como regalo de cumpleaños y honestamente me trataron como si fuera un rey. La atención fue increíble por parte del grupo de meseros del restaurante, todos se comportaron increíble , liderados por un señor que era como el encargado de los meseros , que sí mal no se recuerdo se llama Erick , mis felicitaciones para todos ellos, hacen un trabajo extraordinario. La comida deliciosa , el lugar hermoso. Un lugar mágico y perfecto para desconect**** de todo.

You may wonder what you've gotten into when you descend on a winding road down to the lodge. We kept asking our driver, "Is this it?" and he would say, "Down." And down we went to a magical place. When our porter delivered us and our bags to our rooms, minutes later he was knocking on our door. "Quetzal," he announced, and took us to see our first one, right on the hotel grounds. For birders and hikers, this is a wonderland. And you are down a steep road, so you want to stay right where you are for a while. We were there for three nights and that was great. We could have stayed another, easily. You can take a taxi up to the top of the mountain to hike to the tallest oak trees, which are another type of magic. We had a wonderful birding guide, Raul. And a lovely visit to Batsu Gardens and their restaurant. And the restaurant at Savegre is excellent as well. A very special place.

Ein tolles Hotel mitten in der Natur. Der Garten ist eine Oase zum Entspannen mit viel Vogelgewitscher im Hintergrund. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit den berühmten Quetzal morgens auf einem Baum direkt vor dem Hotel zu sehen, ist sehr gross. Zudem ist die Fahrt zum Hotel bereits verbunden mit einem tollen Erlebnis.

La experiencia fue muy bonita, tienen una excelente atención. Lo que si tienen que mejorar es el aseo en las habitaciones, en los baños y un poco más de rotulación en los senderos. En el restaurante más variedad en el menú, todos los meseros son muy amables. Tienen buen trato.

We had 2 nights here as part of a group tour and loved it. The whole place, especially the restaurant and bar felt very high end. The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a very large buffet, and dinner was a la carte with a wide variety of dishes. The grounds were beautiful with lots of plants and flowers, and a great hummingbird feeder area just outside reception. The bedrooms were really large with a sofa/lounge area, and large bathrooms with a bath and separate shower. They also had ac/heating and blankets on the beds. The bar area was beautiful with a large open central fireplace which felt lovely and cosy in the cooler evenings. We saw lots of hummingbirds, and a few quetzals just in the ground of the hotel. There are many trails from here, all through the cloud forest, or along the road through the valley.

The road from route 2 to the hotel is a bit adventurous but really worth it. We stayed for two nights in which we walked several of the trails. They are well marked but be aware that they are steep. The views are beautiful. The hotel itself is nice and our room was clean and spacious. The staff is helpful and pollite, food in the restaurant is good. We also booked a quetzal tour which exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Raul, gave us a lot of information and thoroughly answered all our questions in fluent English. He has a very good knowledge of the birds and could anticipate their behavior. This resulted in many sightings, of both male and female, of which some for a long period. Raul spotted the birds in no time and set up the scope very quickly, making the sightings only better. We highly recommend him! Thanks again!
