Sadly I cannot recommend this place at all due to a serious mold issue in our room, not spotted until the last day of our trip. Could be many rooms like this. This is not safe for life

Good hotel located near to airport, good matress, good location

I do not care how hotel looks, what food it provides or whether there is any entertainment. I want a room I can sleep (cool, quiet, and dark)in and freshen myself up in the morning. This hotel failed even that. (-) dark: the blackout curtains barely covered the window, leaving large holes throughout the perimeter. Pack an eye mask. (-) quiet: avoid non-seaview rooms (even numbers): all rooms on that side face the bank of aircons and the kitchen exhaust. Perversely, there is no aircon in the room so one has to keep a window open (not being able to turn off the radiator completely does not help) - imagine the noise. The place also attracts quite a number of bikers on a tour - just wait until they will start revving their engines at 5:45am. Pack earplugs. (-) cool... addressed above. No aircon so prepare to sweat in summer. For what it worth we were barely able to sleep when it was +10 outside. (-) shower... pathetic water flow, cold water pressure is much higher than the hot water pressure so hot tap had to be fully opened and cold one just a little. It also sprays everywhere except in the direction it should.... so be prepared to have fun. (-) room condition - old, dated, holes in the carpet, toilet paper holder falling off the wall. (-) some staff absolutely do not understand any English. I had to fetch receptionist to explain to the restaurant front office that I actually want to borrow a fork from them. Surprisingly food quality was rather good - if you dare to stay there, try "from the kitchen" items - porridge and fried kippers are rather good. Bed was also rather good - firm as I like it.

You’ll easily spot the hotel along Douglas Prom … it’s the scruffy, flat roofed building reminiscent of a 1960s office block, it stands out amongst the grandeur of the Victorian buildings which line the rest of the prom. The public rooms are scruffy and unloved, our room was basic, small and a little tired but was cleaned well for our arrival. There was a notice in the room ‘to respect the privacy of our guests we will clean your room once every 3 days’?????? We were instructed to contact reception for additional supplies/services, we tried to call on day 2 to get clean towels and loo roll… no answer, we gave up on clean towels and asked a neighbour for loo roll!! We had received a ‘courtesy’ call the week before we stayed to say the pool and jacuzzi would not be available as the jacuzzi had broken down, essential repairs were being carried out. On enquiring if my room rate would be reduced to reflect the lack of facilities and being referred to a manager the answer was a resounding no – ‘we can’t plan for things breaking down’ and ‘it’s not our fault’. It was offered that we could use the pool at The Sefton Hotel but only if they had availability?? During our stay it quickly became apparent from notices around the hotel and speaking to staff that the pool and jacuzzi were undergoing planned maintenance which had overrun…… Wifi didn’t work, we enquired at reception ‘it’s getting fixed this week’. Radiator in our room wouldn’t turn off, we reported it to reception … nothing happened! Credit where credit is due breakfast was great … good choice, well stocked buffet and always hot, the staff in the restaurant were friendly, professional and helpful. On our last morning we arrived a little early, ‘no problem, grab a table, help yourselves to a coffee and we’ll get the food out as soon as we can’ In summary … I have no idea how this hotel has maintained four stars. Maybe reservations/management should take a peep into the restaurant to see what good customer service looks like.. I do not want to be lied to or treated like a fool – no issues if maintenance has overrun fess up, apologise and put it right. I always look at review ratings but on this occasion ignored the low rating … big mistake!! There is so much choice of accommodation in Douglas find a hotel that understands hospitality.

I must thank the manager and some nameless staff who kindly helped me when my husband was admitted to hospital - He is now recuperating at home. Fran and Emma were very concerned about my welfare and I appreciated their friendship. Such kindness makes me give the hotel my sincere recommendation.

Fairly cheap rates so didn’t expect too much beyond an average stay but well located and not too far from town centre and facilities. Room basic but fairly comfortable but a shame about constant noise from guests returning from the ****** in the early hours so not very restful, but again should have expected that being a risk with the ****** being part of the hotel complex.

Booked a king size room and twin room, both with breakfast and evening meal. Was very happy with rooms and food. Had a good night's sleep. Great service. Hot tub was not working at the time but pool and sauna still open . Hotel is having work done in Pool in May so best to check before booking to avoid dissapointment

For a four star hotel this hotel was disappointing. The hotel clearly needs a significant upgrade - the WiFi is was unreliable, the shower was uncontrollable with poor water pressure, sound proofing between adjacent rooms was virtually non-existent and, worst of all, the rooms are serviced every THREE days - clean towels, dirty cups etc. This attention to service probably explained why the broken window was not seen until we brought it to the management’s attention. The room was quickly changed so that was positive. Fortunately what made the stay acceptable was the food! It was of a very high standard. The quality was very good with a more than acceptable choice and the serving staff were pleasant and helpful. Drink prices were normal. It was a joy to eat there
