We were disappointed on arrival to see scaffold still up on front of hotel on 6th May 2024 when we were informed it would be gone by 3rd May 2024. We booked sea view rooms and could see the workmen on the lower floor . Our room had already been painted but the Windows were fixed and could not be opened with the sun making it too hot to sit and enjoy the view. We had to ask for someone three times in four days to mend our TV and when we left it still wasn't fixed properly. The swimming pool is a very nice temperature but the showers were stone cold and was advertised to open at 8am but never was. When we booked it was noted that it was my husband's 80th Birthday, but this was not recognised at all during our stay which was a bit disappointing .......... Apart from the above the hotel was clean and housekeeping was good reception staff were helpful and friendly......

The room was so hot it was unbearable, no windows to open , just doors on a joined balcony inside, scaffolding up outside building which we were informed about 2 days before arriving. The scaffolding has been up for several months, the dining room for breakfast was hectic, we were sitting were you booked in so had a constant line of people waiting for a table. I had kippers and poached eggs ( you had to order that) kippers were dry and poached eggs hard, Dining area was tired and old ,windows of the sea view dirty, we didn’t even bother to have breakfast the next day and ate out instead. Fridge wasn’t filled daily with water or milk, apparently you had to ask for it? We have stayed here a few times before and things that we noticed last time are still present, hotel very tired and needs redecoration. Sadly we won’t be staying again, instead of going home refreshed we are exhausted due to lack of sleep. We were in the hotel with other guests that were staying there and they agreed about the room being too hot and stuffy.

We stayed in a standard double. The room was clean & comfortable but the safe didn't work, the kettle took an eternity to boil, the hairdryer was from the 80s & the room just looked a bit dated & worn. A bit of modernization is needed to make it feel like a 4* . However the breakfast was good & the breakfast staff were lovely. The fridge in the room was a nice touch & was ideal to keep drinks etc cold & overall we enjoyed our stay & will come again. Wi fi excellent It's so well placed for what we needed to do. Bonsai restaurant worth trying. It's a lovely hotel but just needs tweaking here & there & needs a bit more TLC to make it more 4*

The hotel is looking very dated now. Desperately needs updated. Sheet on bed had huge stain and the body lotion looked like it had been used by the previous guests. Shower tiny. Noisy people next door. Breakfast was good and the staff were saw were very nice. But shouldn't have to pay for parking under hotel if your a gueston it. And the

They are spending a lot of money on the outside of the building but they really should of started on the inside . It is all very tired and in need of updating, thread bare carpet on the stairs and our room was so dated it was like going back to the 80s or 90s. Our door did not fit the frame so let in a lot of light, curtains were shabby, room safe did not work, toilet bowl was loose, loo roll holder broken and all the furniture is dated. Breakfast was ok although I hope they put another coffee machine in the breakfast room when it gets busy. The food and service in Sir Norman's Bar was very good. Parking is good value at £4 for 24 hours but spaces are very limited and most are quite small. I would advise getting a parking disc if staying in Douglas. The hotel is well located and it's an easy walk to the shops and restaurants.

We are just home after spending four fantastic nights at The Sefton, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The best part is when we opened the door to 371 to find a spotlessly clean room with every amenity you could ask for and a balcony overlooking the famous atrium. Throughout our stay we came into contact with lots of members of staff from front desk to housekeeping and they were all very helpful and courteous and nothing was ever too much trouble. I know you can't please everyone all the time but we could not fault "The Sefton" in any way and if you check some of my other reviews you will see we have had to leave some terrible feedback on visiting other establishments so I believe I leave fair and honest reviews.

We have a new puppy and I have been up with him between 4 and 5am. So I booked in here for a good nights sleep. Seamless book in, found the room easily. Stayed in the arboretum, which I love with the sound of the running water. Curtains shut, got into bed, first sleep 3 hours. Bed extremely comfortable and bed linen clean. However, the pillows smelt slept on/sweaty but a quick spray of my perfume when I went to have dinner made it nicer when I finally went to bed. Nine and a half hours sleep!! Plus the 3 before. Winner. Breakfast was ok, the cooked breakfast was luke warm at best, which was a shame cause there was a good choice. Also excellent choice if you wanted a lighter breakfast. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room was cold, especially at night. Being an atrium room (no outside window) it was dark and claustrophobic. Atrium doors didn’t close properly. Swimming pool very small and very shallow, more like a paddling pool. Impossible to swim. Depth at a small point in the middle which fanned upwards towards edges. Not for swimming or for more than, say, 2 people. Not told at time of booking building works were in progress. Buffet breakfast although plentiful was overcooked. Fully refundable booking. Checked out following day before 11am due to being unable to go for a swim (went for the pool) but they refused refund for following 2 nights. Hotel seemed almost empty. Main bar shut, just pricey Asian Restaurant open for meals and drinks - but we don’t like Asian food.
