2-Star Hotels in Dover

We ended up staying longer than most people, which is considered a extended stay. I dont even think this place is a extended stay place but they accommodated us anyway and I was very appreciative of it. The staff were all so amazing. Everyone was beyond friendly. Its like that saying ”come as friends leave as family ” the rooms were great! Plenty big enough for all us and we had three adults and two children. Beds were by far one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The pillows were like clouds. Maid service was amazing. One time I had left a couple dishes in the sink and even that was done when I got back. The breakfast was always great. The woman who does breakfast was so nice I made a true friend. She worked her butt off every morning always with a smile on her face. Every day was something different made. If you ask me there was a huge variety. Most recommended is the mini muffins, I think I gained 20lbs from them. It was always pleasant starting my day off seeing her. Coffee was always on anytime of day or night which was great for me because I love my coffee. They have a snack closet that has a good variety. I couldn't have asked for a better stay and I'm so humbled with everything there. I will definitely be missing it there and everyone there too. I can not thank them enough for everything. Even my kids loved it, the pool was always great, clean, waitting to greet them all day. It was always open until 10 PM they thought that was the bee's knees. And that worked for me because it would tire them out for bed. I would recommend this place to everyone an that's what ill do. If I could have gave them 10 stars I would have.

This is a lovely, spotlessly clean, well run and well maintained property. I stayed in July 2021 and again in August of 2021. I enjoyed both stays. My review is based on an accounting error, lack of customer service to assist me with this error and the arrogant attitude of the manager. Like all hotels, The Garrison charges your credit card twice for your stay and the second charge “falls off “ your account in a day or two. As a rule, the second charge is the same dollar amount as the first. This was not the case for the charges for my August stay however. I mentioned this at check out since the two charges were very different, by more than $200. I was assured it was perfectly normal. By the weekend the charge was still “hanging” on my credit card. I called several times and was told that the manager, Tanya, would return my call. By Monday I still had not heard from anyone at the hotel and when I called to inquire again, the front desk hung up on me. I contacted my credit card company who told me that both charges had been posted to my account, and had not “fallen off “ as promised. The erroneous charge was nearly $1000. Since the hotel manager obviously wasn’t interested in assisting me, I filed a complaint with my bank. As a seasoned traveler, I fully expect to be treated like a valued customer. In turn, I am respectful of every property I stay at, thank each and every employee I encounter and tip accordingly,. There is absolutely no excuse for the rude and arrogant behavior of the manager at this hotel.

The Downtown Dover Inn had only been open 1 week after its remodel from a Days Inn, when we stayed here. The location is excellent and that was the main reason we chose to stay here. We were able to walk to everything downtown. The front desk agent, Kris, was very personable and informative. We had an interior room facing the pool. The room was…fine. The bed was very(!) firm and had crisp sheets. But, the curtains did not adequately cover the window and the pool lights stay on all night, which makes the room seem like there’s a bright nightlight on. If you like a dark room to sleep in, this may bother you. We felt as if the smaller details were forgotten about during the renovation, such as: no light on one side of the king bed, no outlet on that side so you can not charge phones or plug anything else in, no outlet in the bathroom, so you have to dry your hair in the closet area where there was a mirror, there’s no place to put towels in the bathroom (no hooks or bars), and the bathroom mirror had an etching coating on it that made you look ‘hazy/fuzzy’. Maybe it’s supposed to be a fog-less mirror? Either way, you’re doing makeup in the closet area where the other mirror is, but there’s no light. We only needed one night in the downtown area, so this worked for us. This Inn could be a real gem to downtown Dover, if it would polish itself up a little more.
