My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights. Our room was nice but could have done with a small table and 2 chairs. We had a double bed and 2 bunks. Bed and pillows were comfy. Cooked b/fast was included in the tarif. The place was a boutique B and B. But it served evening meals and alcoholic drinks in the comfortable dayroom, cafe, bistro.At night they had a nice fire going in the fireplace. The food they served was of good quality and well presented. Some people might have had to wait longer than they expected, but like everywhere in Australia staff shortages were a problem. All up,our stay was quite enjoyable.

From the moment we entered the public bar, Kurt’s warm greetings and constant attention was fantastic during our overnight stay in a heritage room. His attention and thoughtfulness, was really appreciated (started fire in guest lounge upstairs) . Dinner that night was absolutely superb, thanks chef, (ocean trout, seafood chowder) so returned for lunch 2 days later. Welcoming our return was Kurt. I can’t recommend a visit to the Huon without a visit to the Kermandie Hotel.

Cute little basic cabin run by hotel Bruny . There is a sign at the bottom of the driveway BUT the sand piper cabin isn’t visible. The description I got was go up the drive and it’s a bit further along….. no it’s no, the sand piper is next to the first cabin, initially I couldn’t find it as a big 4 wheel drive was parked next to it. There is a park out the front once you know where it is but you can’t carry suitcases up the steps easily as they are messy rock steps, pretty but not for suitcases. I think some really nice clear wooden signs would help at the top if the driveway and wouldn’t cost much. Interesting emergency blackout kit under the sink. The place was clean, driveway a bit steep but not long for a normal car once you know where you are going. Nice meal at the hotel
