I raved about the Gibson to my daughter after a 60th birthday trip with my Husband 9 years ago, so imagine my disappointment when on arrival to check in after midday following the drive up from Tipperary to be told the room was not ready, fair enough we'll do it later as my daughter had a cocktail lesson experience awaiting her at the blind pig curtesy of her brother for a birthday present. That was Fabulous! We had a meal after at Boeuf & Coq which was mouth watering, We then went to see Woman on the verge of HRT at the Gaiety that was hilarious! We then had the long walk back to the Gibson no big deal but it was after a long day. We were met by Burly gentlemen on the door as 3 arena had just kicked out fortunately one of the lads had my name on a list so we could get in, I finally checked in exhausted and couldn't wait to kick of the boots and relax... When we walked into room the most obvious thing was there was just a double bed? I had booked a superior twin room, I was upset to say the least, I phoned down to reception who explained that 3 of the twin rooms were out of action and unfortunately had nothing else to offer, I was getting cross by this time, it wasn't even a king sized bed!! What if the second person was a work colleague or my 40 year old son? would they expect us to just share the same bed? Thomas the night Manager realised then that it was not right at all so offered some good will money off and my car parking fee, so I decided that would do as I was just way too tired to say any more. A couple more items then come to light like the marks on the bedding so we slept on top and just had the counterpane over us and no tissue in the bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was nice I did miss not having a fried egg though, the toaster setting needs tweaking as it just warmed the bread on round one and then incinerated it on the second, what also was missing was a tray, you were going up and back to get your bits last time I looked I only had one pair of hands. When checking out the next day the receptionist had been alerted by Thomas and they indeed waived the breakfast and the parking I asked the lady do I just put the card in the machine at the barrier and she said yes, but the Gibson wasn't finished with us yet, the blooming barrier did not go up and I was sitting there like a plum till eventually the guy confirmed that it was paid and let us finally escape the Gibson.
