I have stayed at 4 or 5 hotels in my various trips to Ireland. I even stayed at a 5 star resort the last time I traveled here and I will say hands down the room at the Alex was by far the nicest room I have stayed in. It's not directly in the town center but it's just a 10 min walk away and one I didn't mind based on the quality of the room. My only wish was that it had a pool. There is a work out facility across the street that I never checked out so one might have been there. If I ever go back to Dublin I would definitely stay here again. They have a couple of restaurants near by both places were excellent one served the best fish in chips that I have ever had the other had a great Guinness beef pie.

The overall environment and room hygiene of this hotel are at most 3-star level, not to mention any boutique hotel. The attitude of the service staff is very good but they have no sense of service at all. Not a bad review. But the price doesn't match the hotel at all.

I'd recommend staying at The Alex Hotel in Dublin, which is conveniently located in a quiet section of the city near Trinity College and Merrion Square. It's about a 15 minute walk from the Temple Bar District, which did admittedly get a little tiresome late at night. The hotel design is stylish and modern, and the standard king room was extremely spacious for a city room. The front desk staff, especially Robson, were lovely and accommodating. The only notable cons of this hotel were 1) the pillows and mattress were not very comfortable and 2) the coffee shop located inside the hotel was not open on weekends, which was surprising and inconvenient.
