The WiFi was absolutely amazing especially cause I work from home full time. The breakfast was amazing as were the staff and the entire hotel. Definitely returning!

Definitely an amazing hotel. The hotel was worth every cent. I loved that I was able to get an international plug when I needed one and that the staff was always willing to help. The breakfast OMG!!! Never seen or tasted anything more delicious. The variety of food and service from staff was a absolutely exceptional !!!!

Location is good enough if you are conducting business in and around the city of Durban and not expecting anything more than a very basic 3 star experience. Even so, the value for money is not great. Rooms are clean, but need a little TLC here and there. Colleagues said their beds were very uncomfortable, but I clearly got lucky, as my bed was very comfortable. If you order from the a la carte menu, be prepared to wait a long time for your food to arrive. Same applies to drinks orders. Seems as if they were still on skeleton staff post Covid, or maybe they were unprepared for the influx of people attending Indaba. IMO, City Lodge is much better value for money.

Our stay at Southern Sun Maharani overlooking Durban North Beach was a delightful escape. The room's design allowed us to enjoy breathtaking coastal views, seamlessly integrating with the stunning backdrop. The hotel's commitment to exceptional service from friendly and attentive staff contributed to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. A beautiful and peaceful stay indeed! Staff are very friendly and accommodating. We felt welcomed. Rooms are very clean and neat with a beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious. Safe parking and the place is situated in a safe, quiet area. Will definitely book again!

Arrived at the place and did not get the room I booked they told me it was taken by other people. Our room had no mirror and no tv, the air-con was not working and it was cold. Checkout is very early 10:00 in the morning which wasn’t easy. Other than that I will give the place a 5:10 great for over night stay and leave in the morning.

The hotel is ok and everything but the parking is very small and limited I had to park my bakkie on the parking lot across the street but there is a guard 24hrs

Fabulous stay, strongly recommended. Except if you want to be on the beachfront or in the bustle of Umhlanga Rocks. Situated on the ridge overlooking the sea, btw Umhlanga and Durban North, 5-10 min drive to the beach, 10 min to Umhlanga Rocks. Staff are fabulous and kept us well fed and suppmied with generous cocktails in the pool. We were the only guests both evenings in the pool area. Saw vervet monkeys from the balcony. Breakfast was also generous and delicious. Rooms are quiet, block out the light, and beds comfy.
