We’re homeless through no fault of us and Brighton council have placed us here. I can hardly find the words to describe but here are some: grotty, grungy, broken, disaster, awful, horrible, vile, nasty, inaccessible, dangerous, rotten, criminal, grim

I can say stayed at the ellesmere many times over that past few years. The owner Peter has always provided us with a immaculatey clean room, and excellent service, the breakfast was excellent. The steps where in repair on one of my recent trips. The owner waiting for contractors to complete repairs. A little gem of a place.

Should of used trip advisor as this would of prevented us staying here. Absolutely stuck in the dark ages surely this can’t be legal. Very dirty very smelly especially of cigarette smoke. En-suites dire even after a shower I still felt dirty. No sign of breakfast we looked everywhere. This hotel should be shut down immediately.

I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me. Broken steps, rotten furniture, illegal wiring, water pressure so low you couldn’t even run the tap sometimes. A complete shambles. There is no receptionist either. They clock off at 8pm. So we ended up taking the wrong key and staying in a dirty room for a night . Stay away !

Broken, collapsing entry steps should have been a clue! They have been unrepaired since 2018/19 according to reviews. This hotel is so worn out. No reception so nowhere to complain. Bar not functioning. No breakfast offered. Our twin room on 4th floor cost us £80 for one night. The olive green bathroom was dilapidated. Broken fascia to shower tray. Toilet wouldn’t flush properly. Threadbare carpets. Furniture cheap and old fashioned. A scruffy wooden chair a charity shop would refuse. WiFi didn’t work although various channels offered. However the beds were ok and sheets and towels clean, if not we would have been out of there like a shot.

This was the worst hotel I've been in for some time , the steps on entrance are dangerous for even the able bodied. The hotel smells like must, smoke and old shake n vac. Once you are given keys you don't see the owner again impossible to speak to anyone. The room had a old avocado bathroom with a broken shower tray , cabinet and a loo that didn't want to flush. The beds on first inspection look dated but clean.. how wrong I was as I was eaten alive by bed bugs a d have had to fumigate my suitcase and clothes. I caught a critter but no one to complain to. Location is good but that's it other than that I feel this hotel should.not be open. There was a man living on the 4th floor smelt like he smoked and he left door open all time so it reached our room.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights at the weekend. Considering we paid a higher price (£140 for 2 nights) we expected a bit of quality overall but it turned out to be a big disappointment. We found dirty bed sheets and pillows with blood, some room insects, the toilet door was broken and no one was at reception. We were bitten by the bed bugs and we just hoped we didn't bring them home. Also the broken stairs at the main entrance don't look safe and can cause some accidents. Overall, the building itself and the rooms need more maintenance, ventilation and refurbishment. Lastly, after our experience we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband and I were really disappointed. A disappointment!!! The room was dirty, it hadn't been cleaned at all. In the bathroom they didn't even change the already used soap. They no longer offer breakfast even though we paid for it. The lady said that they no longer offer breakfast due to Covid restrictions (she wasn't wearing a mask and then what restrictions? All hotels and B&Bs offer breakfast and half board). The stairs are broken and need to be paid attention to. The only positive thing was the B&B location (near the sea and the centre), then the rest was rubbish.
