The Cavendish Hotel Eastbourne ★★★
"We booked the Standard room with double bed - as it was middle range, not as modern as the Ocean View rooms you see in the example photos - but hoping it was not as poor quality as the windowleas rooms that got bad reviews. It was not quite as clean as I hoped but bearable. The room felt dusty around the edges, so we stayed away from the walls and back of the furniture. There was a lot of dust on the lampshade. Also I saw a long hair under the pillow before I got in and in the corner of the shower the next day. Also, there was a rolled up pair of Batman socks from a previous occupant, tucked behind the curtains. None of that would have been too bad, but the green emergency light was shining too brightly all night. I added a picture of of the view from the bed in the dark with the green light. Apart from that, the breakfast was good and the hotel was pretty in general. Also the location was great as it was along the sea front."

"The room was clean and comfortable, a 15-minute walk from the train station, with a nice environment and a sea view from the window. It was convenient to take the bus to White Cliffs, and there was a supermarket nearby. The breakfast was also good, and all the staff were patient and polite; I even chatted with a friendly Chinese female staff member for a while. This is a hotel with very good value for money."

"It couldn't be better. The staff is also great. The room has a great view. The windows on three sides are all sea. You can fall asleep listening to the waves at night and listen to the calls of seabirds in the morning. The only thing is that there is no elevator. But fortunately, the stairs are wide enough. It is quite convenient. The bus is also very close and convenient. It is a 15-minute walk from the city center."

"Overall, it was a really good experience. The staff were really nice, and the location was great. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning, and opening the window gets the bugs in. The walls weren’t soundproof either, so I was woken by the neighbours chatting and laughing at 4 am."

"Friendly and welcoming were we received and the rooms offered all the necessary amenties. It was clean, quiet for those who had their rooms far away from the elevator. Due to the age of the hotel I was not surprised of the noises the floor makes and the outdated interiors. The location is perfect, just watch out the street. The breakfast was a buffet and had rhe basic dishes. Keep in mind everything is self service, and there ia no cook to make you eggs."

"There are lot of hotels in Eastbourne, many cheaper than the Revilious. I chose the Revilious because of the favourable reviews and I wasn't disappointed. It really is a fabulous place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was stylish, comfortable and well equipped. There was lots of choice for breakfast with an emphasis on quality. I'll certainly stay at the Revilious next time I visit Eastbourne."

"Lovely welcome by John, again. Who even after 4 years since our last stay, remembered us. We had room 5 this time. Nice bright room overlooking the rear of the property. Very quiet room which is a bonus so near the busy seafront road. Room had everything we needed including the much appreciated ceiling fan as we stayed during the "heatwave". Delicious breakfast again, in the nice breakfast room, decorated with Sarah's art, which are a joy to look at and talk to her about. And again her lovely homemade bread. They were happy for us to leave our luggage for the day and come back as and when we needed before we left Eastbourne. A really lovely, couple who make you feel very welcome."

"Although there is an elevator, you still need to go up and down several stairs to reach the floor, like a maze. Please note that the family rooms are likely to be on both sides. If you bring large luggage, it will be really difficult to move up and down. You can park on the road and ask the front desk for a card to put in the car."

"I drove there specially to see the White Cliff. There is an outdoor restaurant downstairs of the hotel. Everyone is drinking beer in the restaurant. It is very comfortable. The breeze is blowing. It is really a good place for vacation. I can stay for two days next time."
