Umlani Bushcamp

Great experience ! Morning and evening safaris were really great thanks to ranger Elvis. We saw the big five! And the experience in the caban in the tree was magic. We loved observing animals drinking in the mini lake during 2 hours in the day. And we also spent the night in the caban and it was an amazing moment.

The camp, staff, food and safari experience were excellent, perfect for a family adventure. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great, the guides knowledgeable and put in extra effort to make sure we had a good time. Having animals wandering through the camp added to the experience. Excellent value for a trip like this.

Well wow. We cannot wait to return. What makes this place amazing isthe staff, they went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. Our room was impeccably cleaned every day twice a day - to the point where even though we had an outdoor bathroom I didn't see one bug. I didn't even get a mozzie bite. The food was sensational - the cooks are very talented. The food ranged from very authentic south african - we ate impala one night, to traditional fish and potatoes. Everything was delicious and we always had lots of options (you can give dietaries upon your arrival). Breakfast was a real highlight for me. Having gorged on the fresh fruit and yoghurt in the morning, they then came to ask us what we wanted for 'hot breakfast.' Eggs, toast, pancakes..... you will never be hungry here! The amenities are lovely. The outdoor shower is divine and just what you need after a hot game drive. So beautiful. The beds are very comfy - but the most beautiful room is the treehouse - do not miss staying one night in the magical treehouse, whcih you can stay a night in. We had the pleasure of 12 elephants joining us at midnight. The game drives are so well orgnaised and the staff, with some having been there for over 16 years, are very knowledgeable and welcoming. Sundowners overlooking th watering holes, or whatever beautiful location they choose will be a memory we never forget. Should you have a quite game drive one day, you won't have a quiet day as there is plenty of wildlife around the camp - in the camp you can get beautiful Nyala and other antelope, as well as monkeys and within view at the watering hole you can see hyena, zebra, elephant, honey badgers and likely much more.... What makes Umlani so special for us? The warm welcome from all the team, the enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable rangers and trackers, the delicious meals, the simple but very comfortable huts, relaxing on the deck watching the game visiting the water hole, our night in the treehouse, the exquisite sunrise, the breath taking sunsets…the list is endless. Thank you, dear friends, for another wonderful holiday. We shall be back.

Wonderful location, great staff, good food and eco-friendly accommodation. Excellent game drives with superb driver and tracker, warm welcome back after the drives with a hot towel followed by freshly-cooked breakfast or dinner. Great views over a waterhole from the sitting room balcony; lots of animals wandering around the site, too. Not luxurious, but everything that you need to enjoy a real bush experience - well-equipped rooms, friendly, helpful staff and a relaxing environment. Highly recommended for first time and repeats.

Umlani Bushcamp is probably the best experience we have had as a group on safari. From the very first moment we felt comfortable and safe. We can recommend Umlani Bushcamp to anyone who wants to experience a top class game drive. The camp is family run and you can see this in so many lovely details. All the staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful. This extraordinary experience is rounded off by traditional food of the absolute top class. I found this lodge through many suggestions on a Facebook group and researching them all. I chose Umlani due to its more eco friendly approach. Someone said you get a 5 star experience in a 3 star stay and I’d say that to be very true. If you want luxury this may not be for you but the huts you stay in are amazing with an outside shower. Solar power. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Warm, scented towels await when you return from a drive. Sundowners on the drive was wonderful and morning snacks and coffee. You can drive very close to the animals and have some amazing animal experiences. We were have a sundowner at a watering hole and 25+ elephants came in to bathe and drink all around us. So neat! Elvis and Lucky were great guides and trackers. We also stayed in the tree house a night and it’s one I will never forget. Waking to elephants under the tree and hippos in the pond. Surreal. And the food was amazing! Loved it all and highly recommend!
