There's a nice table and chairs to relax in. Room was clean and they were not shy with coffee and toiletry amenities. The staff are super friendly. I also love the little baggage wagons strategically placed on every floor. It was winter but I will be back to use the full length swimming pool in the summer!"

"The standard rooms, chalets and cabins are not worth the money they charge for them. Most are far away from where one's vehicle must park. The perimeter walls to the property look "dodge" and unsafe. We were not prepared to stay in the chalets, rooms or cabins and had to resort to taking one of the bigger river view chalets for our peace of mind and safety, this was at an additional cost of close to R500 for the night. In general, the place is dated and is in serious need of maintenance. IN general, the prices are over the top and are exploiting the traveller by charging a hefty price because it has a view of the Kruger Park. "

"Reception staff were inattentive and focused solely on answering phones. The rooms were dark, outdated, and in poor condition: a broken bedside lamp, gray bathroom towels, only one bedside table, repulsive carpeting, a malfunctioning lock requiring repair, etc. etc. A terrible stay after 8 days in the bush. Certainly not up to the standard of traditional Mercure hotels!"

Special thanks to Trust, Ntombi, and Sandra for giving us a seven-star stay experience. A very special thanks to Ozy and Heaviness, who took us on eight game drives. With their friendly and professional guidance, they not only helped us fulfill our dream of seeing more than the Big Five, but also gave us an extraordinary experience in the wild. Although Lion Sands stay is not the cheapest option to explore Kruger National Park, it was worth every cent we paid. One small thing that would make Lion Sands perfect for me is if the gym equipment were more modern and varied. Highly recommended — we will definitely stay at Lion Sands again one day."

"Hotel is decent, clean and well located in Mbombela. However staff at reception are useless. We arrived on Saturday 30 September at 17h30 and it took 45 minutes to check in. Our confirmation letter showed that our booking included breakfast whereas the computer reflected room only. The room allocated to us behind reception was next to the parking. Very noisy throughout the evening when guests come in and park. When we arrived for breakfast on Monday morning the restaurant staff told us that breakfast was not included. Again we had to show our confirmation letter to reception before we were allowed to have breakfast.."

Super welcoming staff and volunteers, respond quickly over WhatsApp. Brilliant prices for budget travel. Great safari, great Mozambique trip. Lovely communal feeling for evening meal times. Breakfast/lunch are provided which is good, only downside is it’s difficult to find somewhere for lunch, as a solo traveller I diddnt know how much I could walk around in Marloth park to a restaurant or anything. Would’ve been good even just to buy snacks at the hostel to keep me going"
