I have stayed at more than a couple hotels in Skala through years of visiting. Costa Azzurra was on top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Very hospitable staff and there for every need of mine. Wonderful and clean rooms. Thank you so much!

This hotel is in a brilliant location on the main pedestrianised street, and is a perfect base. Despite being fairly central, we had a quiet night's sleep every night. There was a lovely bakery nextdoor where we grabbed baguettes for lunch, the supermarket was very close and a huge choice for breakfast was in the taverna nextdoor. We had everything we wanted, air con, large fridge, kitchenet with sink, kettle, coffee maker, crockery, cutlery; comfy bed, balcony, hair dryer, dressing gown, slippers, beach towels, daily maid service. However, the showers are so tiny you can barely move in them and some of the shower drains are partially blocked, probably with hair as the sinks and toilet were fine. Nothing was done about it. Ours was so awful that it stank and we couldn't shower properly. The lovely aspects of this hotel for me do not make up for not being able to shower properly and I wouldn't go back.

This was our first time in Kefalonia and we chose the Costa Azzura because of the location and the breakfast looked perfect on the TUI website , also it said you get free loungers on the beach , unfortunately neither of these were accurate , Tbf I think they’d made some changes to the breakfast so we enjoyed it anyway and the staff at the place down the road were very nice , yes it’s pretty basic but perfectly sufficient and there are scrambled eggs and bacon everyday, there is also a pool available where you have breakfast but we never used it as we prefer the beach I’m not sure you’d class it as a hotel but we really loved our stay at the Costa Azzurra , our room was clean and most importantly the bed was super comfortable, the balcony was a good size and overlooked the street and sea view, it really was lovely, no it’s not 5 star but personally we find posh hotels soul less so prefer this kind of accommodation. The shower was an experience and you ended up flooding the bathroom but we weren’t bothered I loved the Nespresso coffee pods daily, we are coffee mad so this was o lovely touch Lastly to the girls on reception , both lovely lovely girls, always smiling , very helpful and let us use the downstairs room to shower before a late pickup so all in all we had a lovely holiday and yes we would book again Thankyou

The hotel is tucked away on the ‘*****’ of Skala with a wide selection of bars and restaurants (and cats) at your doorstep. The hotel isn’t far away from a self contained flat, with breakfast served next door. Limited reception so you have a code to enter property. Room is pleasant and hotel is very clean. Room had a fridge, kettle and cups included. Shower is tiny as only real complaint. If you want access to everything, including Skala beach which is a generous 10 mins walk down a slope past shops and bars this is the one. We spent a few evenings on balcony and there are several supermarkets close by for water, alcohol, snacks etc as the hotel has no other facilities. It was perfect for us who didn’t want an all inclusive and wanted to sample local restaurants. Added some photos from the street outside

Great place to stay in the centre of Skala and easy access to all the restaurants in the main street. Breakfast amazing with good choices from a full and light breakfast menu,ie Full English, Eggs Benedict and advocado and smoked ham on toast, all delicious and served by a lovely team of friendly waitresses. The little shaded courtyard makes the experience very pleasant. Rooms are cleaned to perfection every day by a lovely lady who even helped us with our cases on the last day.Thank you ! Worth noting that the shower is very small and the floor tends to get soaked. On one occasion it flooded into the kitchen area. I took a window squeedgy which was very handy to use to direct the water into the drains as no mop provided. Also i took over door hooks to hang over the shower cubicle to hang toiletry bags and towels as no shelves or anything to put your toiletries on in the bathroom. I would say beware if you book the rooms with the mezzanine bedroom for young children or anyone for that matter.I am a fit 60 year old and although getting up was easy enough,to come down you have to sit on the edge of the floor and find the top step of the ladder.I did it once and then never again! Much too dangerous. Receptionist had obviously had lots of complaints when i mentionned this to her. Could easily be rectified by moving ladder steps forward and adding a top platform and handrail, but still the room would be too dangerous for children to use. I would book a twin room in future.

We spent a week here at the end of July. Great central location with pool, beach, bakery, supermarket and bars/restaurants within 5 minute walk. What you want in the hot weather. Breakfast is out the main gate, turn right at a restaurant called The Old Village. When we were here they served 8.30am - 11am. The hotel WiFi works here so that will give you an idea how close it is. You order your food off a menu rather than eat buffet style. We sampled pancakes, porridge with fruits, Full English but there were plenty of other options including more Greek influenced dishes. Coffee was good but found it odd paying €3 extra each day for a large bottle of water to share. Air conditioning good, shower gel and shampoo replenished in room. There is a LARGE refrigerator and corkscrew/bottle opener in room. Do NOT bring towels. They supply lovely large beach towels. Agree with others that the shower/shower curtain situation is interesting in the bathroom but that wouldn't put me off returning. Although a bus transfer was included with Tui, I did treat ourselves to a taxi on arrival as could see we were the last drop off. Very glad as the roads are windy and we had a flight delay. Bus transfer back to airport was perhaps an hour and nice to be last pick up. Check on the Tui app for more info. We used the pool at the Big Village Hotel, which sold drinks but not pool snacks. We also used their shower on departure day as we had a late flight. Not very glam but did the job. We preferred the beach - recommend heading more down to the right of the beach to Milos. Two sunbeds, umbrella and two waters for €10. We had lunch there most days too. There is also a Skala Facebook group I joined which was useful as this was our first time to Kefalonia. Recommend Captain Vangelis cruises (we went to Zante and also did the sunset cruise) and the Kefalonia Wine Tour. Private tour with a trip into the mountains to sample the lovely wines (8 of them!) and enjoy a traditional Greek snack. Abit pricey but worth it. Hope this helps in planning your holidays.

Abbiamo soggiornato al Costa Azzurra dal 17/07 al 22/07. Personale gentilissimo pronto a risolvere ogni problematica e sempre molto solare.

We stayed in a superior room with a side sea view . The location, in the centre of Skala, was great, with so many cafes, bars, restaurants etc so close. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by. But it is not "boutique". It is basic, clean and "OK" with some fittings that someone thought could be classed as "boutique" such as black taps. The bed was very comfortable, and having a fridge was a bonus as we could keep drinks bought from the general store, just 1 minutes walk away, nice and cold. Note - there're no on-site facilities such as a bar or breakfast room, but no bother as breakfast was served in an adjoining restaurant. There were a few things that let it down. First was a lack of storage - just an open hanging rail and bedside bistro tables. It really could do with some kind of extra storage. We managed, living out of our suitcases for many things, but it would be so easily sorted for not many € per room. Then there's the aircon. It is fixed to not go cooler than 22-23C. Thats borderline on a hot night and while no one wants to waste energy these days, 20-21 would have been a lot more comfortable for us. I mentioned it - they tested it and was told it was working fine: fine being no lower than the temperature they decided was appropriate, I think. Finally: the shower. It has been mentioned in most other reviews I've seen. It's a small shower tray (750/800 square I would say) with half-width glass on two sides so, as designed, would be open at the front. That floods the floor as we found out. Not just the bathroom floor but the room itself, which then drains under the door of the room out onto the landing outside the room. Slippery and potentially dangerous! To try and sort this the staff took it on themselves to try and sort it (they shouldn't have to!) and have fitted a shower curtain...which sort of improves it but makes the shower area even smaller than it was to start with; or it gets trapped around the shower waste and it's back to square one with flooding. Yep, I did that, and it was how we found it floods everywhere. This is so silly and, worse, we gather that repeated complaints about this have fallen on management's deaf ears. All about the €€€ and profit vs common sense I guess. But, all in all - we would, honestly, stay there again, mainly based on the location :)

We have recently had a four day stay having booked via ******* but having referred to their own website before booking. On the positive side, the location is excellent - opposite the church on the main street of Skala with plenty of excellent tavernas very close by. The rooms are very clean and the reception staff very pleasant. Now unfortunately, the bad bits! It is not really a hotel. It is a block of former studio's which has been given a bit of a makeover and which has only 10 rooms. We arrived, after booking a 'Superior double room with sea view' and were shown to a room on the top floor at the side of the building. The room was OK, nice and clean and well presented although the balcony was tiny and the sea view miniscule above the rooftops of neighbouring properties. The TV did not work and the fridge was not turned on, meaning that the complimentary water was warm. Anyway, I checked their own website and the photograph of the room we were in related to a 'Double room with side sea view' - a room available much cheaper than the 115 Euros per night we were paying so I went to reception. The receptionist did acknowledge that the room pictured was the room we were in, but maintained that this was a 'Superior double with sea view'. She called her boss who maintained this stance and told me to call *******. When I reiterated that it was the pictures on their own website which showed this room was incorrect, and asked her to call her boss again, she did so and reluctant
