Louis Apostolata Island Resort
"We booked a two-week stay at this hotel and, while there were a few pleasant moments, overall the experience did not reflect the standards expected of a five-star establishment. On our first day, we dined at the poolside restaurant, which was very disappointing. My toasted sandwich was poorly presented, while my husband’s club sandwich contained chewy, unpleasant chicken that was clearly not fresh. The chips were cold and undercooked, making the €18 cost difficult to justify. Later, I ordered a mojito at the bar which was made incorrectly with gin instead of rum. Despite the mistake, I was still charged €12 for a drink that bore no resemblance to what I had ordered. Our room was reasonably comfortable and the sea view was lovely. However, the bathroom was dated and in need of some refurbishment. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay: while the bed was made and bins emptied, little else was cleaned. Surfaces were left untouched, and on one occasion our room had still not been serviced by 2pm, which prompted us to complain. The main disappointment during our stay was the food. Across the two weeks, the choice was extremely limited, with the fruit offering almost exclusively melon and desserts very restricted. Unlike other hotels of similar rating, there was no variety or sense of abundance, which made mealtimes uninspiring. By the second week, we chose to dine out most evenings, at our own expense, simply to enjoy a better standard of food. Other aspects were also frustrating. Towels could only be exchanged at reception, which meant climbing a large number of stairs (despite a single lift being available). On our second attempt to change towels, we were told there were none available. Reception service was also unfriendly; one member of staff in particular came across as stern and unwelcoming. When we asked if we could swap our included evening meal on one day (as we would be out from early morning) for a lunch on our final day instead, the request was refused. This seemed inflexible and unaccommodating. In the restaurant, service was inconsistent. One waiter was particularly discourteous, often giving guests disapproving looks and only beginning to smile towards the very end of our stay. On a positive note, the evening bar was exceptional. The staff there were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely eager to please. The female bar manager in particular stood out — she went above and beyond for guests, was exceptionally friendly, and made fantastic cocktails. Her professionalism and warmth were a real highlight of our stay. In summary, while the location and sea view were enjoyable and the evening bar staff provided an excellent service, the overall experience was let down by poor food quality, limited choice, inconsistent cleaning, and unfriendly service elsewhere. For a hotel presenting itself as five-star, it fell far short of expectations, and we left feeling disappointed."
Porto Skala Hotel Village
"Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic 10 day holiday in July 2025 with our children (age 14 - 23). The hotel is so cute with all the different coloured apartments and the rooms are cool (air conditioned), spacious, comfortable and cleaned every morning with fresh linen and towels. All with a beautiful sea view from the balcony. The pool is just perfect, with plenty of space for everyone and always enough sun loungers. There’s also a poolside bar offering snacks, drinks (hot/cold/cocktails) and lunch menu. The buffet breakfast was nice and had plenty of options. It did get busy towards the end of service so we tended to go early and beat the rush. We didn’t have the dinner option as it was very expensive and with better, cheaper options in the nearby town we were happy to venture out for dinner. The town was quite a walk from the hotel so we took advantage of the hotel bus which ran morning - evening. You just need to book at reception, the staff were always extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. Especially Evelyn - she was an absolute ANGEL and made so much effort to ensure we were happy and had everything we could want and more! I would say it would be beneficial to hire a car as there isn’t much close by and with the temperatures in the high 30s you should ensure it has air conditioning! There is parking across the road from the hotel. As well as two stunning little coves with crystal clear water where our children enjoyed snorkelling to see all the fish. The water was clean and cool - so refreshing on the hottest days. Overall this was a fab holiday that I would recommend. Only thing I would change would be to hire a car so we could travel at our leisure and see more of the island and maybe go slightly earlier or later in the year when it’s not so hot. I also think it would be a great idea for the hotel to have music at the bar in the evenings as it’s such a beautiful spot. There’s lovely seating outside reception overlooking the sea but didn’t ever see anyone serving at that bar. With some music on and a drink with that view it would be just perfect "
Erolidae Villas
"Enjoyed a fantastic 4 night stay here with friends. We had a warm welcome despite arriving late and were grateful to Kelly for her wonderful recommendations for local sights and restaurants throughout our stay. The apartment was modern, clean and well designed with everything you could possibly need. The complex has a few cats so if you have allergies or don’t like cats then this might be an issue for you. We are animal lovers and this only added to our memorable experience. The location means you require a car but I’d say that is a must for anywhere in the island to make sure you see as much of Kefalonia as possible. Definitely recommend!"
Melidron Hotel
"Lovely family run hotel. The pool bar is excellent staff very friendly. So close to beach and local restaurants. Air con is fab. The sofa bed is not comfortable and very squeaky with the slightest movement! Might not be the same in every room. Overall a lovely base in Skala."

Faro Del Porto
"We arrived late on the Thursday evening and we were greeted straight away outside which was a really lovely touch. Everything was very straightforward and the room was cleaned atleast 5 times and we only stayed a week! Everything was absolutely spotless! They couldn’t do enough for us and even called us a taxi on the way home and allowed us to store our luggage. It is a quick 5 minute walk from the main square and every room has a balcony to enjoy the beautiful views. I would absolutely stay here again! Such a beautiful and wonderful town and place!"
OLIVEMARE
"Great people, kind and friendly. You feel you have come home and the welcome is loving, as if you have never left the place. Excellent service, exquisite breakfast and delicious food, highly recommended. The only place in Kefalonia where you can experience Greek hospitality. Keep it up!"
Reveli Suites
"Our stay at Reveli suites was fabulous! Maria the owner has a heart of gold, she went to every effort to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible, and her lovely housekeeping staff, Vicky cleaned our room daily, to ensure we had fresh linen and towels, the place was always left spotless. Maria cooks breakfast each morning and her speciality cheese pie is phenomenal, just so good! In fact I asked her for the recipe! The hotel is secluded but only a short walk to the sea where there is a small beach, restaurant and bars. Everything from the bed, pillows and sun loungers was super comfortable and top quality. If you want a relaxing adult only break with a wonderful host then Reveli suites is the one!"

Asteris Hotel
"We had a really good stay at the hotel. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is very relaxed. The swimming pool is perfectly chilled and a good size. Breakfast is good and the bar is great. The room was great with a wonderful view of the sea. It is a little bit out of Skala but there is a regular bus from the hotel. We would advise a hire car to discover all of the amazing beaches and towns on beautiful Kefalonia."
La SkalaVista
"Arrived late afternoon and shown to our room which overlooked the small garden and pool area. The room was large and clean. All I would say on a negative the room was a little “tired” and could do with a spruce up. Small details like a new curtain for the patio and a few little touch ups here and there. The pool was a nice size and never crowded. Breakfast was ok a selection of bread, ham cheese coffee and juice. Maybe some fresh fruit would have been good. The location is good a 5 minute walk to the beach and Skalas Main Street. I would say though if you want 5 star plus pay for it, don’t expect 5 star accommodation when you’re paying 2 star prices. If your after a base in Skala then the big village is ok."
Blue Jasmine Hotel
"I stayed for 3 nights with my 2 daughters in a one bedroom apartment and everything was perfect. Lovely friendly welcome even though it was late, a large apartment with 2 bathrooms, a lovely balcony, very effective air con and a little kitchenette. The pool area was so relaxing with very comfortable sun beds and always quiet. The breakfast was better than we could have wished for! A great self serve selection of fruits, cereals, cheeses, meats, yogurts etc then a cooked to order menu with the best poached eggs I’ve had in a long time. I did not want to leave this place. Such friendly warm staff too that always had a smile on their faces. Thank you for getting our holiday off to the perfect start ."
Makis Hotel
"Nothing but good things to say about the cleanliness of the rooms, the warmth of the staff, the quality of the breakfast and the overall layout of the property and its adjacency to the beach. Top notch, well done!"
Poseidon Apartments
"Perfect location close to all amenities. Accommodation basic but clean & comfortable. Lovely big balcony with furniture & sun canopy. Second balcony to the bedroom but no furniture. Would stay here again"
