A discrete family run business. Friendly, smiling people and allways available to serve their guests. We had an excellent stay here for two nights. The rooms are spatious, clean and well-equipped. Views from the room and balcony (at Ella Rock) are breathtaking, especially during sunrise. A nice and complete breakfast was served on the balcony, outside the room. Lunch/dinner can be easily taken in Ella town, which is in walking distance. It's a quiet place, with lush vegetation and some animals around. There are some stairs to climb, but luggage is brought to the room. Would definitely recommend and return here!

Al nostro arrivo pensavamo di andare in casa di qualcuno… Invece il posto è meraviglioso: una camera enorme con la zona Sofa’, un bellissimo bagno pulito e grande, un terrazzo panoramico con una vista mozzafiato. Il punto di forza comunque è la colazione, una super colazione, la migliore mangiata in Sri Lanka!

No Reception, No parking space, Steep Steps to get to the rooms. In the night it's dark watch out when climbing & going up about 30 steps or more. Exaggerated price, Refused to give a receipt as back packers don't ask. How do they go up with bags.

We had a very good stay here for two nights. The room was very clean and the breakfast was DELICIOUS. Especially the view of the room was very very nice. One of the best views I have ever had. See pictures, totally worth it to wake up to that view and have breakfast surrounded by monkeys (if you choose to eat outside).

Unfortunately despite all the rave reviews online I had a poor experience here due to ONE critical reason. First the positives: the view from the rooms is FANTASTIC. Really stunning valley views from the balcony where you can sip your tea/coffee. The staff are also super helpful and responsive. Finally, the location is just a few minutes walk (uphill) to main street in Ella - I found it easiest to walk back and forth. HOWEVER, my room had one fatal problem. The toilet was letting out a horrendous stench. It was clearly a plumbing/sewage issue. Despite my informing the staff and some plumbing work being done while I was out during the day.. the smell remained. It would even come into the room so I had to put a towel under the toilet door. Basic hygiene failed here. Furthermore, the breakfast was also below average. I wish I could give this place a higher rating because of the view and the staff, but I can't. It isn't a super budget place, and so I have to be honest.

Absolutely fantastic. The views are stunning, the rooms big and clean with a big bathroom. The breakfasts were really lovely and delivered straight to the room. I highly recommend this for the views alone. The only possible negative is that it’s a 5 minute hike to the town but don’t let that put you off.

We spent one night here. The good: Very affordable rates, a glorious view from the balcony, a welcoming and obliging owner and quick response when we had a request - e.g. a blanket and towel for the third occupant. Access to the centre of Ella is les than 10 minutes away by foot. Breakfast of fruit, egg hoppers, plain hoppers, toast, butter and jam was well prepared, but would have benefited from the addition of a sambol or other savoury condiments. The not so good - We were a party of 3 and the room was very cramped with three in it. It was clear that this was a 2-person room with an extra bed squeezed in. There were only 2 chairs, for example and initially only 2 towels and blankets had been provided. You also have to climb two flights of steep stairs to get to your room. Overall this is a good place for young people who are traveling on a budget. Older folk who may have difficulty climbing steep stairs should be wary.

Als je er toekomt lijkt het maar een beetje groezelig, maar dat is het zeker niet. De kamer is mooi en geeft een direct uitzicht op het berglandschap. Vanop het balkon kan je dit ten volle in je opnemen. Het ontbijt wordt tot in de kamer gebracht. Als je 's avonds naar Ella gaat eten kan je makkelijk met een trap een kortere weg nemen en ben je heel snel in de hoofdstraat waar verschillende restaurantjes en bars zijn. Let wel: voor wie niet goed te been is, is dit geen goede keuze. Er zijn wel wat trapjes af te leggen.

We stayed two nights at Country Homes and had a great time. To hotel is close to the center of Ella, but in a also quiet area with some monkeys passing by your balcony. The rooms are spacious with a good shower and a beautifull view of the valley and Ella Rock. Breakfast is very nice and is brought to your room. The staff is very friendly, especially the owner which was very thoughtfull and made sure we had a nice stay.
