I had a lovely stay at this very comfortable hotel. The rooms are a good size with plenty of room in the en-suite bathrooms and generous sized balconies. The staff are really lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast was great with a lot of choice and plenty of tea and coffee. The hotel is situated close to the station in the direction of the ski gondola so no need to catch the bus. There are plenty of places close by in the town to eat at in the evenings.

The best located hotel: it is super close the gondolas to go to titlis. Rooms are clean and the setup for us and our two kids in a single room was perfect. I really loved the hotel team - the had plenty of small attentions to make our stay more enjoyable. The breakfast featured local high quality products from the family of the owners. The sauna was always empty and larger than expected - a perfect way to end a day after the skiing!

Zeer gastvrij personeel en een goed ontbijt. Kamer met balkon en uitzicht op de bergen. Sauna niet bezocht dus niet te beoordelen. Het hotel ligt vlakbij de Titlislift en de tandradbaan. Goed bed. Geen 5 sterren omdat we moesten douchen in het bad.

We stayed 3 days at Hotel Sonnwendhof and I can definitely recommend it as for a short stay and for a long vacation. The hotel is very well maintained! The people, who work there really care about their customers making them comfortable as home. The room we had was spacious, with a balcony and comfy bed. The hotel has an inside children entertaining room. Breakfast is excellent and oriented for kids as well. It offers many local goods. The restaurant offers a 3 course dinner at St. Josefshaus hotel, which was pretty decent and not expensive. There are a lot of hiking trails around Engelberg including Titlis - 3000 meters above sea level. You can find easy routes with kids and a lot of options for experienced hikers. Coop supermarket is a in a walking distance as well as Engelberg's public pool. And the hotel has its own sauna! We would definitely get back to the hotel another time!

Had 2 nights here after a night in Zurich and came here by train then only a short walk from the station. We were able to get an early check-in which was very handy, the room was typical Swiss and comfy but would have been handy to have a kettle in the room. Breakfast was very good and Luzcia was a very good host.

We have visited this hotel many times and this is the first time back since COVID. The hotel is beautifully situated in the Lucerne area and Engleberg is a great place to unwind and be truly 'in the mountains'. This are has so much to offer and has plenty to do all year round. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming the rooms are very comfortable and clean. We hope to be back next year!

I've stayed in many hotels in Europe and the Sonnwendhof in Engelberg is definitely one of the best, and possibly the best! The hotel is very close to the gondola and the hotel is clean and nice, has nice rooms, bathrooms, and showers. But the best part is the staff! Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful! They go above and beyond to accommodate you and any special requests you have. We were a group of 28 and some had dietary restrictions, which the hotel was very accommodating! And Silvia was phenomenal! She was always helpful, smiling, and friendly! Multiple people in our part commented on how great she is! I highly recommend this hotel if going to Engelberg!

Allgemein: sehr hübsches Hotel, welches liebevoll eingerichtet ist (rustikal, also mit viel Holz, aber dennoch mit einem modernen Touch. Es verfügt auch über einen separaten Raum für Kinder und einen Aufenthaltsraum (Salon). Sportgeräte wie Ski, Schlitten, etc. können im Keller abgestellt werden (Zugang auch von aussen). Auch eine Sauna ist inklusive. Preis/Leistung ist auch super (gerechtfertigt). Lage: sehr Nahe am Bahnhof und nicht weit vom Zentrum; und trotzdem ist es sehr ruhig. Auch liegen Seilbahn, Gondeln und Sportzentrum (Langlauf, Eisbahn, Bike), Ski-Verleih, Shopping, Restaurants/Cafés und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten nicht weit davon weg, sprich sehr gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Personal: Sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit, flexibel, herzlich, persönlich. --＞ sehr heimelig, danke! Zimmer: Das Doppelzimmer ist gross genug für 2 Personen; ausgestattet mit Garderobe, Schrank, Schreibtisch, Spiegel, Bett, Nachttischen, einem Sessel, TV, WC mit Badewanne/Dusche inkl. Föhn und Balkon (1 Tisch und 2 Stühle). Alles sehr hübsch bzw. liebevoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Frühstück: Super frische und lokale Produkte; einfach nur lecker! Eine kleine Auswahl: Kaffee/Tee/Milch, Orangensaft/Apfelsaft (Most), etc. Aufschnitt (diverse), Käse (diverse), Früchte, Fruchtsalat, Honig, Brot, Brötchen, Gipfeli, Rührei, Speck, gekochte Eier, Apfelkuchen, und so weiter. All das und noch viel mehr kann man zwischen 7:30 und 10:30 geniessen. Fazit: Mehr als nur empfehlenswert. Einfach buchen und geniessen!
