Clean, well organized, good food, romantic setting.... 5 minute boat ride from Flores (10Q/person/way). Not as noisy in the evening as Flores but yet, the town restaurants are easy accessible- not that you'd need them:Brenda's cooking is excellent and prices here are on par or lower than in town. Peter, the owner, is more than helpful when it comes to booking or organizing tours for his guest. Some reviews state, the tours are cheaper in town. Yes, marginal. But being taken to the tour bus by the hotel boat is always included. And really convenient: just in time, no hanging around in the heat or haggling with the tour operator....Overall, we were more than satisfied and Zapote tree house exceeded our expectations. We will recommend to friends and family AND eventually be back....

The service was wonderful, and the prices for the rooms, tours, etc. were very fair. The beds were rough - they have springs that are easily felt through the surface of the mattress. I have a feeling that this would have been the case almost anywhere in Flores, though. The views were spectacular!

We traveled with our teenage son and 20-something daughter and would highly recommend this property for travelers of all ages and types. Peter and Yolanda and every member of their staff are amazing. We were treated like royalty with amazing breakfasts every morning, boat rides and tours, suggestions and advice and amazing service. They are flexible to individual needs and preferences, including whether you want a fully guided tour with information about history and culture, a map and directions, or anything in between. Strongly consider using Yolanda for a day trip to Tikal, she is an incredibly experienced guide with strong knowledge of history and culture as well as the flora and fauna of the area. Peter took us through the animal conservation center, the local small museum, and the beach - all excellent. Dinners were excellent onsite, in San Miguel, and across the lake in Flores. This place provides it all - peace and relaxation, history and adventure, and overall appreciation for the people and culture. You won't regret it.

Stranded here coincidentally. We only had some drinks, but what a nice place and the nicest people! Great view and peaceful environment! It’s a shame we didn’t found this place before. Next time in Flores we would definitely stay here! Thanks

Zapote Tree is the perfect type of place, it is very easily accessible from the main island of Flores by a quick and cheap boat ride. The owners Peter and Yolanda are extremely kind and warm people and arranged everything for me to get there and reach my flight out. Eric who also works there is also a great cook and makes one mean breakfast perfect before trekking out to the jungle or the ruins of Tikal for a long day of walking and climbing. Peter in particular went out of his way to make sure my stay was perfect and that I was taking advantage of all that Flores had to offer. He also has a great personality and you can tell he and everyone else working there take pride in their business and the space. The hotel is also walkable from a beautiful beach and has a nice hiking area right behind it up a hill. Two minutes walking and you are literally in the jungle with howler monkeys walking on the remnants of an old Mayan city. You cant get that anywhere else.

The inn is owned and run by a wonderful couple Peter and Yolanda. they built the entire property themselves and their hard work and love for what they do is apparent in every detail. The views are spectacular and the rooms are very comfortable. The location is right next to beautiful trails through the jungle to a picturesque beach. You can also easily access the island of Flores and all other attractions around Lake Peten. Peter had a wealth of knowledge about the local region and Guatemala in general that he shared with us. Speaking with him really added to our experience. if you are looking for a special unique place, Zapote Tree is where you need to go. The hotel is only accessible by a steep dirt road and the path is unclear. Peter was very helpful and suggested to drive us to the entrance of Flores.
