This was our third time staying at this Residence inn, and very little has changed. Our last stay here was about 6 weeks before Hurricane Ian ravaged Sanibel and Capiva. It appears that recent rains are causing problems in the ground floor common areas, but we spent no time there, so we were not impacted at all. Nor did we take advantage of the free breakfast as we had previously. This was just a place to crash so we could hit the beach early the next day. Our room as exactly as we had experienced in the past, clean and comfortable. There were only 4 of the tiny postage-stamp sized pillows on the bed, so I ended up using the pillows from the couch as a prop to watch the gigantic TV! The bathroom was clean and well stocked with standard Marriott towels, so no surprises there. The water pressure in the shower left something to be desired, but it was workable for one night. My ongoing pet peeve with Residence Inns is the icemaker in the freezer. The icemaker was on before we got into the room that afternoon around 5 pm, and by the time we left at 0930 the next day, it had only dropped ice 3 times. There was only enough ice in the bin to fill a single glass after running all night. Fortunately, this Residence Inn provides an ice machine on the first floor that solved the ice needs for the night. I only wish all Marriott properties were as forward thinking as this one. Aside from that minor issue, this is the best deal on a quality hotel without crossing the Sanibel Causeway bridge and paying triple the price, and still being within 20 minutes of the beach.
