The hotel is great being on the seafront as it stands plus reception staff and all the cleaning and service staff were very helpful and friendly and my partner was treated to a gift from the hotel on his big 60th birthday falling on our 2nd day as the cleaner must have seen the cards and informed the management. We had no aircon but they are currently fitting the infrastructure for this which did not detract from the stay and any room issues were quickly resolved. A courtesy bus runs 2x a day taking guests to and from the hotel to Funchal which can be also be reached by a no1 bus or by walking which takes approx 1.5 hours.The breakfasts were varied and there was a large choice of options for vegetarians, we like to eat out at different venues so didnt go half or full board. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel whose rooms overlook the sea which is relaxing at night, and the lovely pool which does too and would definitely stay again.

Location is perfect Staff are just great Breakfast very good Very happy here Right on the beachfront. It’s a quiet location which suits us. There are lovely beach shack/ restaurants which serve really well cooked food beautifully presented and nice drinks a short walk away Very reasonably priced. Swimming in the sea in front of this hotel is wonderful or there is a large hotel pool It’s perfect all round Oh. And there is a free shuttle bus into Funchal daily

Ein sehr gepflegtes Hotel. Kein Klotz, sondern sehr schön in die Klippe gebaut, mit einem herrlichen, unverwechselbarem Meerblick. Abseits von Trubel, aber doch schnell erreichbar. Wer schnell nach Funchal will und doch Ruhe sucht ist hier genau richtig!

wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Nettes Personal. Essen gut. Wir haben trotzdem Verbesserungsvorschläge: Bad: In der modernen Dusche sind keine Ablagen. Balkon: Dieser ist sehr gross, da wären Liegen nicht schlecht. Es gibt aber 2 Stühle und Tisch. Wäscheleine wäre auch gut. Zimmer: Im Zimmer ist leider wenig Licht. Speisesaal: Nervig war allerdings das Anstehen beim Essenseinchecken. Da wechselt täglich die Platzwahl (Platzwahl ist übertrieben, man wird beliebig eingewiesen) Spiegeleier waren sehr kalt, das geht besser. Super auch ein Shuttle, der kostenlos 3x täglich nach Funchal fährt. Bus 01 hält direkt beim Hotel (kostet 1,95€), falls Shuttlezeiten nicht passen. Trotz der Verbesserungswünsche gibt es 5 Punkte.

Leider hat die Qualität des Hotels nachgelassen, die Mitarbeiter der Rezeption nahmen die Beschwerde nicht an und meinten wir wären selber schuld. Haben ein Superior plus Zimmer gebucht und ein Standard Zimmer, laut programmierten Fernseher im Zimmer, bekommen. Wir waren Stammgäste in diesem Hotel, unser 4. Aufenthalt dort, aber so wurden wir nicht behandelt. Mein Mann hatte am Ankunftstag Geburtstag, keine Glückwünsche, nichts. Stattdessen hat die Rezeptionistin ein falsches Geburtsdatum in den Computer eingetragen. Wenn man einen Parkplatz auf dem eigenen Hotelgrundstück dauerhaft haben möchte muss man sich einen freien Platz reservieren für 7,50 Euro pro Tag, ansonsten stellt man das Leihauto auf der öffentlichen Straße ab. Das Essen war sehr unterschiedlich. Der Tintenfisch und der Broccoli tot gekocht, die Pommes oft lasch und die Nudeln sehr weich. Die Aussicht ist nach wie vor grandios, die Zimmer( im 4. Stock) könnten eine Renovierung vertragen. Der 4. Stern ist meines Erachtens nicht gerechtfertigt, da gibt es bessere Hotels in Funchal die genauso viel kosten Wir werden nicht wieder kommen und das Hotel auch nicht weiter empfehlen

Second visit to the orca praia hotel,such a lovely hotel with fantastic views of the ocean.brilliant staff already booked to return.will never stop going to this hotel.there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel which runs every 30 minutes to Funchal,tip purchase a bus card,makes the cost over a week to pennies.greeat walks along sea ront I either direction.
