VidaMar Resort Hotel Madeira

This was a great experience, my room included a spa wet circuit which was very relaxing. The views from hotel were amazing and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The location was very convenient and close to the town center. It was an excellent and relaxing hotel stay.

Luxury hotel.  We had a great time here. Everyone from reception and throughout are very professional and courteous. Excellent WIFI throughout. Free parking It was my husbands birthday whilst we were here and we were very touched that someone had obviously taken notice of the dates of birth on check in or seen the cards in the room, and kindly arranged for a cake , card, and bottle of fizz which was waiting for us in the room when we got back that afternoon. It made his day very special!! The room we had was a junior suite and looked very swish. It had a comfy chair area and everywhere was modern and clean. We could have done with more drawer storage as the bedside table was made to look like a packing case, so although it looked terrific, there was nowhere to put things out of the way. The wardrobes were transparent and formed the dividing wall between the bed and the sleeping area. The bedroom was light and airy as a result, but it was just as well we keep a tidy wardrobe! Shower room, again, scrupulously clean. We appreciated the robes and slippers. Again, we could have done with more storage to put our toiletries away. We arranged tables at the 2 speciality restaurants near to the hotel ( one of them visited twice), which were very good and made a nice change if we fancied being served rather than the buffet service. The buffet service was also excellent with a great range of dishes, all delicious. There was always a selection of soup, and good range of salad items. Cooked items varied each day, often shellfish, prawns, mussels, paella etc and always a type of casserole dish such as beef stew or a brazillian chilli type dish,  so we were never bored. Good selection of cheeses with dried fruits etc. Special shout out to the pastry chef. The desserts not only looked delicious but actually were delicious! Professionally made with quality ingredients, no shortcuts here! Dangerously more-ish. The breakfast selection was very good with cereals, fruit, pastries plus full cooked selection for those who wanted it. Porridge available every day too. Efficient toaster. Along with juices, we noticed that sparkling wine was also offered with breakfast! The bar was great too...I tried the poncha here and also good choice of madeira as part of a full bar.  Entertainment 4 days per week 9 till 11. Pool area very good, comfortable sun loungers.  Towels provided freely so this was never stressful. The towels were actually the right size and shape which was great, longer and narrower than typically available. There has obviously been a great deal of attention given to the design in the hotel. Mostly this has paid off! Nothing was too much trouble here, and when we had an early departure before breakfast started we asked if an early breakfast was available. This was cheerfully accommodated and a continental breakfast was laid out for us , bread ( and toaster), cheese ham tea and coffee and croissants. Overall we had a great time here a

The view from the premium rooms in 10th floor is just stunning. The direct access to the ocean is a huuuuge plus! The buffet was good - the coffee can be better. Already looking to book another trip to Madeira this year and will definitely be staying at Vidamar.

I loved staying here with my partner, I would love to repeat it

Rated as a 5 star hotel sadly this was not our experience. Location is very good with good links to Funchal and surrounding g areas. Breakfast was ok apart from having to wait in endless queues for the hot drinks machines but the standard of food in the evening buffet service was certainly not 5 star resulting in us eating out most nights. Most staff were pleasant but managers were not evident. We found the hotel lacked atmosphere and apart from the one bar available there were few comfortable seating areas. Our room on floor 10 had been refurbished with lovely views. However in this day and age we would have expected a walk in shower not an old bath with dated shower unit. The Thasalos spa was lovely but a charge of 25e for use of a steam room or spa facilities is not what you would expect of a 5 star hotel. There were positives to this hotel but there was no comparison to the 5 star Cliff hotel next door.

What an amazing experience we had at this hotel! Highly recommended for anyone to visit! Especially if you have children with special needs! Beautiful hotel & amazing members of staff working here who go above and beyond to make your experience at this hotel so special and memorable. As a mum of an autistic child, going on holiday can be so stressful! It can be like planning a full scale operation. However, the members of staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make our stay the most enjoyable holiday we have probably had. My son has a very rigid diet and this can be very tricky when going on holiday especially to somewhere where I might hint get the same foods he’s used to . The restaurant manageress & the chef went above and beyond to cater for my son’s dietary preferences. They asked what he would like to eat and made him fresh spaghetti bolognaise every evening even when it wasn’t on the menu. My son was absolutely delighted! Also, Simone Aguiar (guest experience ambassador) went above and beyond to deliver excellent guest services. She also managed to get someone for the children’s club who had experience with children with special needs. She checked in on us daily to make sure we were enjoying our stay and if anything else they could do to make our stay more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel. With its beautiful views and stunning location it’s definitely worth a visit! Amazing food choices in the restaurant & plenty of healthy options too. We stayed on the 10 th floor, our room was beautifully decorated and clean & fabulous view of the ocean. The staff are a credit to the hotel and I will definitely come back to stay there again. Well, where do I start because this is not an easy one. I booked a five star 9 night break for my partner as a thank you for putting up with me. This was our first trip to Madeira, which, I must say, is a fabulous holiday destination. The location of the Vida Mar is most definitely five star being right on the waterline with stunning sea views, supported by very nice gardens and three outdoor swimming pools. The staff are also first class, and, in general, the common areas are spotlessly clean and airy, giving the impression of space and luxury. I booked a ‘superior’ room on the 7th floor which provided fabulous sea views from a more than adequately sized balcony. The room was, in my view, OK, but not superior, and I would describe the bathroom as merely adequate. For us, however, the food was the greatest issue. If you are a fish eater, then you should be OK, but the choice for others is very limited, and very samey. I was very disappointed by what was on offer which put somewhat of a damper on the whole holiday. We loved Madeira, and will probably return in the future, but not to the Vida Mar.

Amazing sea view from the 9th floor and welcoming reception staff got the holiday off to a perfect start. Access to the well equipped gym with friendly PTs was appreciated. We love Madeira and everyone in and outside the hotel were friendly and helpful. Thank you for another great break team VidaMar
