The plane arrived in the morning. The hotel allowed us to check in early for free. We also received welcome drinks and free tickets to the CR7 Museum. The accommodation was full of football a**osphere.

Really great welcome. Initial issue over the room type was immediately and efficiently sorted by Katrina, who continued to be extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Very friendly reception, but then you walk to your room and are shocked by the state of maintenance. Everything is dark. The hallways and also the room. Carpet in the hallway with stains, carpet in the room with stains, creaking bed, faded red low chairs on the terrace. Painted bathroom floor (yellow) where the paint is peeling. Moldy sealant seams. Dusty headboard above the bed. Time for a thorough upgrade! But then came the worst. There is an air conditioning unit above our room. The sound and vibrations penetrate through the outside wall, causing us to experience an annoying hum all night long. Barely any sleep. The price/quality ratio of this hotel is completely out of balance. The two stars are for the friendly staff, that was the only positive in this hotel.

A short break booked at the last minute, we found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful and hotel is ideally located to Funchal centre. The breakfast offering was great with very good selection of food to choose from.
The only thing I would say was that the bed was a little too firm for both my wife and I, this is obviously a personal thing. Overall a great stay and I would recommend to friends and family.
