I chose Wirdana Resort & spa for a one night stay with our Doggy Pippa earlier this month since it was recommended and advertised as a pet friendly property. The booking process was easy and friendly. Ravini helped us book a Deluxe room since their Villas are meant to accommodate larger groups of people since they have four rooms. However, having got to the property, we were not too happy with the deluxe room which is attached to the main building since the design did not suit our taste (The sink and commode are inside the bedroom with no door dividing them). However, when we expressed our concerns, Ravini was kind enough to upgrade us to a four bedroomed Villa. The Villa was large and came with a large living area, TV, books, dining and bar counter, Verandah with lounger chairs and another large dining table. Each Villa has 4 Double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with outdoor showers. The Villas are separated from the main building and is in an enclosed HUGE garden area with a gate. This ensured that Pippa (our doggy) had ample space to run about without us having to worry about her escaping the premises. The owner Barbara is an animal lover and has rescued many dogs and cats who are extremely well behaved and roam the main building area. However they seemed to be a bit uneasy of Pippa being there so the Villa was an excellent option since she could enjoy herself without bothering the other animals :) The entire team at Wirdana was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. We had lunch in the main dining area (Fried rice, Chicken curry and Salad) which was extremely tasty and subsequently Dinner and Breakfast the next day were brought to our Villa on request. We ordered Club Sandwiches for dinner and a Sri Lankan breakfast both which were very very tasty. The rooms are all air conditioned and the beds are very comfy and plush. The showers and sinks come fitted with hot water and a rain shower. The living area of the villa does not have AC, but is designed with multiple french windows that open into the rear garden and as a result has a lot of natural breeze flowing through. The Villa had Wifi but was very weak and as a result we could not use it at all. However, this was fine since we hardly use Wifi on holiday but is mentioned here since it is a necessity for most travelers. The Television did not have cable tv since it was disconnected, but this could be because they were experiencing low occupancy over the past few months due to the Covid-19 situation in the country. The resort had a pool in the main area, which was medium in size. All staff practiced their Covid safety protocols which made us feel very much at ease. There was no ID or Passport check at the time of check-in which I recommend that they do in the future. Overall, This is a great place to visit with your pet if you book a Villa. I would advise not to go there on a extremely busy weekend or a long weekend since there are other villas in the premises and this means there ma
