Booked a room through ************. arrived at the hotel at check-in time. At first they tried to provide a room below the category. After clarification, they showed us the room in which we were supposed to live. But it was dirty, with a terrible smell inside and no window. More precisely, the window did not look out onto the street, but into a closed corridor. There was nothing to breathe in the room. Not ventilated. They refused to give us another room for the same price, even though a room of the same category was available. He asked me to pay twice as much. They said that we could just leave if something didn’t suit us. The hotel hides information from booking that some of their rooms actually do not have windows facing the street or courtyard. The staff is rude and unresponsive. I do not recommend this hotel.

I had some other hotel arrangements fall through so had a taxi take me to a 3 star hotel in Galle Fort. This is where he took me. The manager booked me in for a two night stay. Once I was settled, I checked pricing online. I was charged just about double the online rate. My fault I suppose, but I was pretty unhappy about it. The manager offered a "discounted" rate to extend my stay (normal online booking rate). I declined his offer. The rooms are pretty basic but ok. The beds offer mosquito netting, which I advise be used. I got quite a few bites the first night. As for the pros... the breakfast was nice and portions plentiful. The staff were accommodating and helpful. And the cons....The place could use some maintenance. The hardware fell out of the locking mechanism for the deck sliding door. This made it impossible to secure the door against entry. The deck was accessible to anyone, so I didn't get a great feeling about leaving anything of value in the room. Also, there was no hot water. Unfortunately, there was no wifi in the guest room. You had to go to the lobby or communal TV viewing area for internet. There are other places near that are better value.
