The Western Hotel

This hotel is in a good location, only a 5 min walk to Eyre Square. Our room was very large and clean. We stayed for 1 night and found the reception staff to be helpful and friendly. The big plus for this hotel, is the onsite parking. Recommended !

The location is perfect to walk around the city. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable however very basic and could be improved with small amenities such as a fridge.

Beautiful hotel with excellent accommodations. Walking distance to all the shops and also included parking. A great place to stay while not having to worry about driving around.

The western hotel was a perfect place to stay for two nights in Galway. We had a car and they have a nice parking garage with an attendant who will valet if the spots are full. Staffed reception area and bar and restaurant onsite, my partner had to do a work call late at night and I was able to read a book in the cozy comfortable lobby during that hour. Room was well equipped (no face washcloths though) and while the carpet was a bit stained it felt clean and the beds were comfortable. Shower was great. Great location a bit up from Eyre Square and out of the town center fray. If in Galway again I’ll definitely stay at the Western again.

While the reception staff were friendly and polite and the lounge/bar area was very nice, the room was definitely not up to a 4 star room. I've stayed in far superior 3 star rooms in other hotels. The amenities were very ordinary. Only stale nescafe sachets and 2 tea bags, no complimentary biscuits, no bar fridge, no lighting over desk for writing or reading. The basin in the bathroom was very slow to empty. Buffet breakfast was very ordinary. Definitely overpriced.

The Western has an excellent location, close to Eyre Square and within walking distance of the bus and train stations and most of what a tourist will wish to visit in Galway. It also provides free parking with EV chargers. The hotel is a successful conversion of terraced Georgian houses. Our room and shower-only bathroom were somewhat basic in design but acceptable for our two night stay. Breakfast was an adequate if unexciting buffet, with some food cooked to order. Staff were pleasant but we didn’t test them much. The bar music was far too noisy at night for our taste but clearly popular for some. At c. $380 per night b and b for one, this was an expensive 3.5 star experience, but typical of Galway’s high season.

Cute hotel close to everything. The location of this hotel is the star. We didn’t bring a car and didn’t feel we needed one at all. We walked everywhere.They also had a room large enough to fit a family of 4. The staff were all kind and the bar and breakfast were nice. The rooms do not have AC .Reading other comments from the front desk they state they provide fans for each guest room. Though we enjoyed the hotel, I just want to be clear that fans were not provided. We called each night for a fan and they said they had run out. The windows only open ~ 1 inch so we were very uncomfortable in the room. We stayed in other hotels while in Ireland without AC and the use of a fan and larger windows made the stay comfortable.
