Sunway Hotel Georgetown Penang

This hotel has an older building decor, but its location is very strategic as it's close to many depots. The room cleanliness is excellent, and the room itself is very spacious. The swimming pool is too small, making it uncomfortable for swimming. There's secure parking available inside the building. The quality and variety of the food need improvement for a 4-star hotel. The service isn't great; we had to pay a tourism tax of Rp 45,000 per room per night and a local government tax of 3 Ringgit per room per night.

I had a truly satisfying experience. First, let's talk about the location. There's a night market right downstairs. For breakfast, there's an excellent coffee shop nearby that serves Kaya toast and local specialties at reasonable prices – perfect for a morning meal. The night market offers a great variety of local food options for dinner, which is a fantastic experience. The hotel is also conveniently located for exploring all the attractions in George Town, whether you choose to walk or take a Grab. Now, a special mention for the hotel itself. Everything from the ambiance, room layout, and especially the concierge service and the professionalism of the staff, was outstanding. Although the rooms show their age, they are incredibly clean, well-maintained, and smartly designed. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I highly recommend booking here. If I visit Penang again, I will definitely stay at this hotel. Many thanks to the hotel for their thoughtful, attentive, and professional service!

The room was pretty clean, and it was convenient to get anywhere by taxi. There's even a night market right outside.

The service was great and the hotel's location is excellent. There's a snack street right downstairs, and it's easy to get anywhere by taxi. Penang Island is absolutely beautiful. Next time I come to Penang, I'll definitely choose another Sunway hotel. Check-in was also very convenient.

This hotel offers excellent value for money. The location is great, and the night market downstairs has delicious food. The shower water was wonderfully comfortable, and the views were also lovely. I'll definitely stay here again if I have the chance. Plus, there's ample parking.

There are quite a few snack stalls downstairs at night, and several durian shops nearby. You'll need to check their opening hours; when I went before, there were still some durians available with a good variety. However, from mid to late August, there are no fresh durians and fewer varieties. The 'Black Thorn' variety is quite premium and delicious! The prices are very cheap.

Sunway seems to be a hotel chain in Malaysia. It's decent and offers the basics. The room type is fine in my opinion, with at least one large and one small bed, enough for sleeping, not a sofa bed, and no two separate rooms. The price is also reasonable and not expensive. Next door is 'Ao Ao Tea Room,' a teahouse serving breakfast that's good value for money, and one of the Chinese guys working there provided good service. Getting around by taxi is also very convenient. The complimentary water in the room comes in glass bottles, not plastic, probably for environmental reasons. The Southeast Asian guy at the Sunway front desk was also very nice.
