We recently stayed at the HI Georgetown while visiting family around New Year. The hotel is located near the exit off I-75, but it is rather hard to find. The back of the building is visible from the I-75 south ramp onto US 62, but there’s no signage on that side of the building or at the lights. This is a fairly typical Hampton building, although older and a bit smaller than usual. It’s undergoing extensive renovations, so the lobby and common areas are a mess. But they seem to have accounted for that in the price. There are certain things I expect out of a Hampton, and the Georgetown location ticks off all the boxes well enough. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a microwave and refrigerator. There is a comfortable bed and clean bedding. TV was an older model flat-screen but worked fine. The bathroom could stand a little updating (the bathroom vanity is high and the tub is older), but it is perfectly adequate. The icemaker on our floor was broken, so I had to go up a floor to get ice. The public spaces were, as I said, a mess, particularly on the first floor. The lobby and breakfast areas were in the process of getting new flooring, and there was a lot of dust. However, they opened up additional breakfast seating in one of the first-floor rooms. The included breakfast is standard for Hampton – my only criticism was that the oa**eal was watery and undercooked. The coffee was good though, which isn’t always the case. There is a pool and a hot tub, which we didn’t use. Customer service was good, but not especially friendly. We were only there for a quick overnight and left early to get back home. The HI Georgetown may be better once the renovations are complete. For now, it is OK, particularly for a short stay, but not much more than that.
