We stayed here for one night over Labor Day weekend. The good - friendly staff and about ten mins from the Bank of NH Pavilion where we attended a concert. We arrived about an hour after the check-in time. We were offered a room on the third floor but were told it was very hot up there, or a room on the first floor, literally right around the corner from the check-in desk and lobby. I don’t sleep well in heat and figured noise shouldn’t be an issue with the room on the first floor given we’d be getting in late from a concert. They handed us our room keys and here’s where things went down hill. Upon entering the room, a disgusting smell hit us right in the face - a combination of wet dogs and cleaner, which they were clearly using to try to cover up the smell of a dog. There was no way we could stay in this room - I get migraines and am very sensitive to smells, and clearly this room needed a good deep clean. We went back to the lobby and explained to the woman at the front desk that it smelled like a wet dog in the room we were given, and politely asked if we could get a different room. She thankfully was able to find us another room on the first floor and then told us she’d “go spray the room” that we asked to move out of. I asked if this was a designated pet-friendly room and to my surprise, she told me they allow pets in every single room. So a warning to anyone sensitive to smells, or allergic to dogs/cats you may want to consider a different hotel. Spraying a room to COVER UP a scent vs. deep clean to eliminate a dog smell was a complete turn-off and makes me question their cleaning and sanitation practices. Yuck. I realize this isn’t the Ritz, but cleanliness is extremely important to me even at a two or three star hotel. We’ll for sure look at different hotels next time we are back in the area.
