Glenapp Castle

Decided to make a pit stop in Ayrshire on our way to Glasgow and made a great choice in selecting glenapp. Wonderful gardens full of spring blooms and an uninterrupted view of Alisa Craig from the drawing room. Staff were great, attentive and very friendly. The size of the hotel means you are more than likely to get chatting to other guests before dinner over a G&T and nibbles. Will be back.

Stunning hotel in a stunning setting. Attention to detail amazing. Staff were superb from arrival,restaurant service, housekeeping and departure. Food was excellent. A lot of activities were available such as archery and bee keeping to name only two!!

We had a very flat day yesterday as we returned to "normal life" after the most spectacular 3 night stay at Glenapp Castle. We arranged a surprise 40th birthday treat for our daughter and from the moment we arrived we were completely spoilt. The Castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are utterly superb especially with all the rhododendrons and azaleas at their best. Our rooms overlooking Ailsa Craig were spacious and beautiful with fresh flowers, period furniture and spacious bathrooms. The food was delicious particularly, the 7 course tasting menu. Everything was beautifully presented and each course packed with flavour. Everyone participated in an activity over the weekend from fly fishing, a picnic on Ailsa Craig, archery and beekeeping along with a massage! The staff went the extra mile to organise everything and we really appreciated it. The place is not stuffy and all the staff were lovely. We could feel they all wanted us to have the best experience. Of special note in the restaurant; Crystal and Colyna were wonderful and Jen, the sommelier, knowledgable and full of enthusiasm made choosing wine fun. THANK YOU ALL for helping us have the most wonderful, memorable stay.

The service at the castle is unquestionably the best we have experienced anywhere. All the staff were very attentive, but in a quiet manner. The cuisine was excellent. The chef's amuse bouche were wonderful! Our view of Ailsa Craig from the dining room was perfect. The rooms were spacious, plush and extremely comfortable. The baths were modern and spotless. The castle gardens were amazing and we enjoyed just strolling through them. We will be back. From check-in to check-out our stay could not have been better.

Glenapp is full of Victorian charm with beautiful gardens and stunning sea views. The staff are very attentive, nothing is too much trouble. My family and I have been coming to Glenapp for a number of years and have come to know Glenapp and the staff very well. We keep returning time and time again simply because Glenapp has so much to offer and is so very different from any other 5 star hotel in the UK. We stayed in the Penthouse in April with John as our Butler. Amazing experience, Swedish friends were very impressed with everything Glenapp has to offer. The food is outstanding, 7 course tasting menu is a must with wine pairing for each course. Boat trip to Alisa Craig is very interesting, a picnic is a must. We've really enjoyed seeing the castle progress. The owner Paul added the Penthouse and is full of amazing ideas. A huge thank you to everyone at the castle who make everyone of our trips so very special, especially my birthday. THANK YOU. Come and stay at Glenapp and see for yourself why we love it so much.

What a truly wonderful place. Everything from the gardens to the food but especially all the staff make staying here something very special. I came home from having a 2 night stay at Glenapp and I haven't stopped smiling, I can only hope that it's not too long before I'm driving up the wonderful driveway and lay eyes on the stunning Glenapp castle again for another stay.

We have written quite a few TripAdvisor reviews, and are of the belief if you nothing good to say, don’t say it (hence many hotels never get a review). Writing a review for Glenapp Castle is an easy thing to do. There are a few things you might consider as standard for a Scottish Castle such as sea views, magnificent scenery, excellent grounds, and Glenapp has all of it in abundance. It is deservedly a 5 Star hotel, and everything you would expect on terms of quality and comfort, it is all there. What makes this amazing hotel stand out from all the rest is it’s people. Staff greet you with a big smile, and that smile never changes. Everyone, from the ‘meet and greet’ at the front door, to those hard working young folks in the dining room, to the gardeners outside in the grounds, all have that smile, all have that welcome, all take time for you. It is a perfect case study in personal service, at a level we certainly haven’t encountered before. Would we recommend Glenapp Castle? In a heartbeat. Will we go back? Absolutely.
