Room immaculate and spacious considering it was a small double. Bathroom in good order but some of the tiles In shower could do with re grouting. Bed very comfortable and sheets etc spotlessly clean and crisp. Room warm as central heating very effective! Reception staff very informative on arrival. Although continental breakfast provided we preferred just tea in our room. Plenty tea, coffee and milk provided. Only low point was the noise from the Oran Mor club! Think I would ask for a rear room if returning.

Good value Victorian hotel in the fantastic location of Glasgow's West End. My small double room had everything I needed for an overnight but I would have happily stayed longer. Room was clean and had big windows so it was bright and at the back of the hotel which meant it was quiet. Bed was very comfy, room was properly heated, wifi was strong, I had a bath but there was an electric shower as well with toiletries provided, TV, kettle and an open plan type wardrobe to hang and store clothes. There was a desk and chair if you needed to work and plenty plug points. Staff were lovely and friendly. Luckily for me my room (20) was on the ground floor so I didn't need to lug all my stuff upstairs but I believe there isn't a lift which may be a consideration if you had mobility issues. The bus stop to the city centre is right outside the hotel but there are lots of shops, supermarkets and restaurants around Byres Rd. Would recommend this hotel but be realistic about it considering it's a bit old fashioned in places but great for the price and the location. The receptionist told me they were renovating floor by floor so perhaps the prices will rise but the rooms will be smarter. I'll be back to find out!

We stayed at the Clifton a few years ago and embraced its quirkiness, e.g. uneven floorboards and old-fashioned features. We especially loved the room with the corner bath, so we booked again recently with this in mind. Unfortunately, this hotel is no longer just quirky. No effort appears to have been made to carry out simple maintenance and repairs. The bath couldn't be used as there was no plug. Even if we'd requested a bath plug, the filthy shower curtain (jammed closed on a flimsy piece of bare wood), would have been in the way. Floor and wall tiles were cracked, with some missing completely, and bedroom windows were unsealed. This hotel can no longer be classed as being in a quiet area, as the shouting from outside a bar opposite (on a Tuesday and Wednesday night) went on until after 4am. The smell of ********* as we walked back into reception last night was also interesting.

The hotel is fine, old fashioned but that’s okay, rooms well laid out and housekeeping check in daily. No breakfast available. The bathroom was a bit musty with mould evident. A requirement to leave room keys at reception when you pop out which is very odd . Staff nice and it’s a reasonable base for a couple nights.

Lovely accommodation with antique furniture including a four poster bed. The shower took a bit of adjusting and the tap didn't seem to have much water but the bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was quiet and the location was ideal for our purposes

Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Was charged twice for room but was a mistake and was refunded immediately once noticed.

This hotel is in a great location in the city’s west end. The deluxe twin had 2 double beds and plenty of floor space meaning we didn’t feel cramped. There is a small car park at the rear. The only bit I didn’t like was having to hand our key in key every time we went out. We had to buzz to get back in and staff may have been busy as we had to wait a few minutes. Apart from that, it was a great stay.

Stayed in a family room. Room wasn't that clean and lots of broken bits. Sink was cracked no plug, bath was cracked so when in shower the water flowed in crack and didn't reach plug, laminate flooring was chipped and my 4yr old cut her toe on it, window frames had black mould growing and one window pane cracked. We were ground floor and windiws couldn't lock. Wasn't any hand soap to wash hands, looked like someone had trimmed beard next to mirror as loads of hairs on floor. Walls grubby and visible dust everywhere. The lady at check in was so lovely and fantastic with the kids but our room really let it down, we wouldn't go back. Nice central location.
