"The room was alright, but it was incredibly noisy. There were people drinking downstairs late into the night. The breakfast was terrible; the milk seemed expired, and the food was unhygienic, rough, and very limited in variety. They also charged a £50 deposit, which takes 2 to 3 days to be refunded. This is the only hotel I've stayed at in the UK that charges a deposit. Overall, I do not recommend staying here."

Rowardennan Youth Hostel
"This is a Youth Hostel, former hunting lodge located on the edge of Loch Lomond. The location is a beautiful setting and the building is very in keeping with an old hunting lodge style. I arrived before it opened at 4 pm and tested the cold waters of the Loch. It is serviced by a ferry on weekends and also has parking. I stayed in a clean 3 bunk bed female dorm room. Showers were clean. There was a kitchen where you could prepare your own food available to the tenters as well. You could order dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch if you were heading up the Loch on the West Highland Way the next day. Lunch was a sandwhich, crisps, water and an assortment of cookies and chocolate treats. Access to the breakfast foods consisting of toast, jam, cereals and yogurt could have been set out in a more organized manner. The coffee was good though. The best part of this place was the large common living room complete with 2 large picture windows overlooking the Loch. The room was also stocked with books, games, wall maps and historical photos of the Lodge. If you are into staying at Youth Hostels and love buildings with character and fantastic views, then this is for you."

"I booked this hotel for its great location. The Buchanan Bus station is just a 3min walk away. That's where you take the bus to/from the Airport, Edinburgh and where all the tour buses depart. It's a 5min walk to the busy Buchanan pedestrian street. The room is cozy and the bed is very comfy. There are no amenities in this Holiday Inn so basically, you are just staying for the room."
Loch Lomond Waterfront Luxury Lodges
"This will be our fourth visit to the Lodges in the last several years, the area is just stunning! Yet again what a wonderful time we had with some amazing weather! Would highly recommend the pub in the village for food and also Duck Bay Marina round the other side of the Loch, where we ate one evening. The highlight of our trip was booking a motor boat for the afternoon and being out on the Loch, take a trip over to Balloch Marina where you can hire them along with paddle boards etc. Our daughter who is 8 loved zipping along the Loch in the boat! You can even do some shopping over there! Overall a lovely weekend, patio area was great as was the hot tub especially with the sun shining, but would love to see the lodges internal furniture refreshed and updated at some point in the future!"

"The Dakota is an absolutely gorgeous hotel and excellent location with ease of access from Queen St Station. On arrival our luggage was taken to our room and we were shown to our bar table; even though we arrived after the kitchen shut we were able to order the food in advance and it was delicious! Room felt luxury and cooked breakfast made to order was very tasty. All of the staff made us feel welcome welcome and we can’t wait to stay again"
