We stayed for one night in a four poster room. The hotel.is very quaint and a beautiful building, the floors are uneven and the beams are low but I feel that adds to its charm. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good for the money. However... what didn't add to the charm was the disrepair and lack of comfort of the hotel. Our room was one of the best they have on offer... and it was beyond disappointing! The decor was tired, stains on the ceiling and the bed canopy, one of thw two windows was partially boarded up and the windows were filthy! The mattress was hard and uncomfortable and we has pillows that we're overused and as flat as possible. There were bulbs missing in the room, the carpet was grubby and the towels from the previous guests were still in a pile in the bathroom when we went I to the room. The lack of care and basic attention in the room was such a shame as the building and courtyard are beautiful! Location is great, very central to everything and a stones throw from the cathedral. Their pub is modern and not very inviting with the building and offers a limited number of drinks for such a large bar. We stayed on a night when there was a karaoke on.. very loud and went on until midnight, and the rooms open onto walkways that surround the courtyard where drinkers are.. again, very loud and not in my opinion great for families with children as there was lots of bad language and inappropriate. conversations that are clear to hear. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the hotel or stay there again, which is a shame as the staff were beyond helpful and friendly.
