My wife and I stayed for three nights at The Grange Hotel, on a deal with Classic room, Dinner and Breakfast. We had a very enjoyable stay there and thought that it was excellent value for money. The quality of the food in the elegant dining rooms was first class, as was the service provided by the staff....special mention to June in the breakfast area, and Eugene in the evening meal service. Well done. Arriving at the Grange in a very heavy rain storm was not a good start. however. Car Parking is rather limited and getting from the car to the reception was a wet affair, having to carry bags slowly, and getting drenched. The classic room on the first floor was easily reached, and was at first impression rather dark. Nevertheless , it was comfortable, although a second arm chair would have been a good addition. The room had a good sized bathroom with a shower, no bath tub. The four poster bed was slightly rickety, and I would have liked a softer set of pillows for choice. The room did not have a mini bar/fridge. Despite this, the fixtures and fittings, heavy curtains and ornate mirrors, and very adequate wardrobes and storage were all very good and in keeping with the style of the hotel from the 19th century. It was warm and comfortable. The dining areas, The Carriages, were excellent and the service by well dressed and attentive staff was first class. The quality of the food from the menu was excellent. We stayed for three days, and the menu was unchanged. If we had stayed for longer than three days then that menu might have become less appealing. Soft background music never intruded or jarred. There were a number of public rooms with very comfortable seating, but all of them better suited to evening time relaxation. There were no rooms with windows to the outside that might have been enjoyed if the rain had stopped. The spa area was adequate, with a small sauna, jacuzzi and swim pool, but the steam room was out of order. We would certainly have no hesitation in making a return booking
