On a move from Las Vegas to Austin, my car broke down, and I ended up staying at the South West Motel on Route 66 for eleven days. Honestly, if I was going to be stranded somewhere, I’m incredibly grateful it was there. The rooms are very affordable and clean, the beds are comfortable, and it has all the basic amenities you would expect. The new owner, Ron, is in the middle of renovating the whole place, and it has a very charming and friendly vibe. Some of his future plans sound very cool. However, what earns this a five star rating (and I wish I could give it even higher), is the staff. The owner, Ron, is about the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. When I called to make the reservation while waiting on my tow truck, he got me in touch with a very highly regarded, local mechanic who ended up being a Godsend. He also waited up till around midnight when I finally got pulled in and kept in touch with me to make sure I was all right. When I found out what the issue was with my car (it was a blown transmission), he lowered his rates for me since I was going to be stuck there a while. This guy even drove an hour and a half to Albuquerque to pick up my new transmission to save me the time and money for delivery. How nuts is that? The two cleaning ladies were extremely friendly, as well, and always checked to make sure I had everything I needed. It was just a very welcoming place. So, if personality means anything to you, I would highly recommend checking this place out. Edit: I just saw another review about this place that had a horrible experience with the owner. This is a different owner. Ron bought the place a couple months back.
