The Swan at Grasmere- the Inn Collection Group

Early may break away, nice room but pokey bathroom, squeezey tight shower cubicle not good if you suffer from claustrophobia, wardrobe doors were in need of a good paint, paint flaking off, if your a light sleeper beware that people in the hotel do not close their doors quietly!!! They slam them due to the slow closers on the door not working properly, and if you are disabled or cannot walk far please request a low numbered room! This pub has many add on extensions and you need to walk up quite a few stairs along many corridors and back down stairs to reach to reach the rooms at the back. Staff at the beginning of our visit were very disinterested and lacking friendliness, but as our visit progressed the younger staff were friendly and especially the grey haired guy with glasses we didn’t catch his name, food ok, breakfast nice selection and nice coffee, but very pricey for what you get £18 for scampi and chips?! Even down south we don’t charge that much! Parking is another big issue, you have to contend with daily pub visitors, people who sneak into the carpark and walk into grassmere ( we witnessed this quite abit while sitting outside with a drink) and had to plan our arrival back at the end of the day of site seeing after the lunch rush/ before dinner sessions and could get a parking space no problem. If you don’t want to drive there are a number of buses that stop opposite the pub on a regular basis a hop on hop off type bus going into rydal, Windermere and Ambleside, And back again every 20 minutes. The gardens are very pretty and have places to sit in the nice weather.

Our experience overall was exceptional. Very friendly staff, the food was excellent and the room was lovely. Its in a great location and makes a great base for exploring the lakes we will definitely visit again

Car park is busy & small but there is an overflow just up the lane. We had a superior King room as we had 2 dogs with us and it was lovely. Whilst the bed was huge, the room still felt plenty big enough even with additional table & chairs. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was amazing! The walk-inn break weekend is excellent value for money, but you do have to advise them when you order that your first meal is included. Overall a great weekend in a gorgeous part of the country with plenty of lovely walks close by. We will definitely be coming back soon!

Good stay in Grasmere, walking distance to the city Center. Food and drinks are ok but not outstanding. Special mention to the breakfast staff who were lovely. The room was nice and clean.

The Staff were excellent, very customer focused and were always approachable. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return.

A lovely stay at The Swan, Grasmere. Superb location, views are outstanding. Staff are very welcoming, and the fire is lovely on a cold day. Food amazing, especially the breakfasts. Great service in the restaurant from Tony, making us feel comfortable and welcome. Would recommend.

Friendly staff, lovely relaxed a**osphere and great facilities! Very doggy friendly wii Th a fantastic beer garden. Will really come into its own in the better weather! Would definitely visit again .

It’s a Beautiful little pub, very big and lovely decor all modern. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The Food was a bit pricey for pub grub, it came cool not hot. Ordered steak was quite tough and cold. The food wasn’t worth what we paid for it.
